Chapter 18
Whitney returned about a half hour later, alone in a limo that
obviously was one of the Boys’ rentals. Her eyes were bloodshot and I could
tell she was crying. I assumed it was because they were gone, but I sensed
that it might have been something else as well.
“Whitney,” I said pulling her into a hug, “what’s wrong?”
“Brian’s gone,” she sniffled, “And my ex Andrew is in town. He caught
me walking around with Brian, and he….”
“He what Whitney?”
“He threatened to kill us both,” she finally sobbed out. “You too.”
“Oh my god. That ass hole. You know,” I said trying to control my anger,
“if he attacks me, I’ll just bite him and then stick a stake through his heart.
Sounds good to me. How about you?”
She gave me a weak smile and continued, “Brian said he wouldn’t let
that happen and the laugh Andrew gave was terrible. It was blood curdling
Bobbi.” By this time her eyes we wide with terror.
“If you want, and only if you’re up to it, think about it and I’ll
watch exactly what you remember,” I offered hoping it wouldn’t scare her too
much.
“OK, here goes.”
We sat in silence until the scene had finished playing out. I was
dumbfounded. No person should ever be that cruel. The hate in his eyes was
enough to make me shudder involuntarily. When it was over I just sat there in
shock. No one should ever talk toWhitney in that tone of voice or make such
threats.
“What are we going to do?” she asked weakly.
“I’m not sure. I’ll think of something.”
“Brian made me promise to call him if something went wrong,” she said
shakily. This incident had given her quite a fright. Although it wasn’t the
first time Andrew had threatened her, deep down, I knew this wouldn’t be the
last time we’d hear from him.
