Chapter 12
Brian and Whitney walked over engrossed in a conversation
about how to handle a sore throat if you are supposed to sing. I broke
into their conversation by asking if any one in the room wanted to go out
to a club I’d seen on my way there. The response I got was
overwhelmingly affirmative.
After collecting the bodyguards, and some of the crew
the Boys, Whitney and I went off towards the club. We obviously couldn’t
walk like Whitney and I had because we were in the company of very
prominent public figures so we took what was essentially a caravan of
limos and a van. The first limo held all the Boys, Whitney, about 3
bodyguards and me. The second limo held the few crewmembers. The bouncer
let us in because we were in a party with the Backstreet Boys and didn’t
even check ID’s.
The club was pretty sweet with colored lights, two floors and
leopard print carpet all the way up the curved staircase to the second
floor. Luckily Whitney and I had worn clothes that were pretty much club
appropriate. A little conservative, but hey, that couldn’t be helped.
Elizabeth had gone home, citing that it was already far past
Ashleigh’s bed time, but jokingly asked me to keep Kevin in line. I
laughed and agreed that he wouldn’t do anything that would cause her to
get mad.
With that thought in mind I grabbed Kevin’s arm when I got
through the door and made my way to the dance floor.
“So, you like Elizabeth?” I asked while dancing with Kevin.
“Yeah, she’s nice. And her little girl is cute. I’m not too sure I want
to date someone with a kid though,” he said apprehensively.
“Ashleigh probably won’t get in the way. Anyway if it comes down
to it, I guess I could baby sit. Even during the day,” I said trying to
change his mind. I knew I was trying to play matchmaker, but I just
couldn’t help myself.
“Alrighty,” he said smiling down at me. Someone tapped me on
the shoulder and asked if she could cut in. I said sure, but reminded
Kevin what I’d said earlier.
Moving across the dance floor I noticed a huge group of girls
giggling around one guy. He was obviously one of the Boys, and just to
make sure I walked over. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw a
bundle of black leather and tattoos grinding with some curvy blonde.
Leaving that behind I saw Nick being followed around by a few
girls and walked over. I asked him to dance and he said sure. The glares
I got would have stopped almost anyone else cold, but I’ve never been
one to bother with the opinions of others. Nick was a pretty good dancer
too, but nothing compared to what I saw AJ doing. I wished it were him I
was dancing with, but remembered his attitude. What a jerk, not my idea
of a choice man. After dancing with Nick for a while I excused myself
and went over to the bar.
