| - 98 Degrees Drafts Dream, Debelah, Baha Men For Tour In what is shaping up to be a top-grossing spring trek, boy band 98 Degrees will embark on a nearly 30-date North American tour, set to begin March 22 in Lexington, Ky. The support acts include a veritable "who's hot" in pop music, with new girl group Dream, vocalist Debelah Morgan, and the Baha Men, whose single "Who Let The Dogs Out" reached near ubiquity last fall. (Curtesy of BillBoard.com) February 18, 2001 | - 98 Degrees Announces Tour Dates (Cont.) | 98 Degrees has announced a string of tour dates in support of its latest album Revelation. The tour kicks off at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, on March 22, with show openers the Baha Men, Dream, and Debelah Morgan joining the group on the outing. LAUNCH recently spoke with 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey about the group's current hit single, "My Everything," and he said, "This one kind of wrote itself. You know, for me it was inspired by my relationship with Jessica [Simpson], but we wanted it to be a song that necessarily wasn't a romantic one--it could be a spiritual relationship. We wanted it to be very general so that it could apply to anyone or anything, and I think that's kind of the direction that we went with." 98 Degrees performs on ABC's The Rosie O'Donnell Show on February 26. The quartet is currently nominated for a Grammy Award for best pop collaboration with vocals for "Thank God I Found You," which also features Mariah Carey and Joe. February 10, 2001 | - 98 Degrees, Dream Team Up For Tour (tour dates) | Girl-group sensation Dream have been tapped as the opening act for 98°' upcoming tour, according to Bad Boy Records. 98°' latest album, Revelation, has gone double-platinum, and their latest single, "My Everything", is #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The group recently performed that song and "The Hardest Thing" during the Concert for America's Youth as part of President George W. Bush's inaugural festivities. Dream's It Was All a Dream continues to fly off the shelves and will be #9 on next week's Billboard 200 albums chart. This Christmas has moved up three spots on the BillBoard Top Christmas Albums chart, coming in this week at #15. - 98 Degrees- Revelation (album review) Yeah I know, its a bit late to be posting an album review but hey, its never too late for a good review. This is from BillBoard.com: At a time when only the most distinctive boy bands are surviving and thriving, the pressure is on for 98º. After all, Backstreet Boys have a jump-start on being the "mature" lads, while +N Sync's members are doing a fine job of being hip-swaying party guys. On its third effort, 98º strives to walk that fine line between its mega-platinum colleagues, casting its members as smooth, modern-day Romeos. Much of the set (largely written by the act) follows along the lines of the tasty first single, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)," which pumps taut pop/funk rhythms beneath slick, R&B-flavored melodies. Of course, there are also plenty of the act's signature ballads, on which primary belter Nick Lachey exudes palpable soul and sex appeal -- particularly on the future smash "Yesterday's Letter" and the lightly percussive "Stay The Night." He's surrounded by plush, tightly woven harmonies that tickle the ear and add rich depth to each arrangement. I was running a search for 98º merchandise at Barnes&Noble.com when I came across an item named the "Revelation Photo Album". There was no image of it but according to the site, it'll be available on December 1st. Click here to see what I'm talking about. - 98º co-hosting Live with Regis I was browsing the Official 98º message board when I came upon a post stating that 98º would be co-hosting with Regis next week. The poster claims it'll be on Wed. November 29th so I added it to the Event Calendar on the main page. If by some chance the date is wrong, I'll make any corrections as they become available. - Destiny's Child, 98 Degrees Tapped for Tree Lighting Destiny's Child, Marc Anthony, 98 Degrees and Natalie Cole will spread a little holiday cheer next week, when New York flips the switch on its famed Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Those artists will perform November 29 as part of the 68th annual tree lighting ceremony, according to NBC, which will broadcast the event live in a one-hour special titled, "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." The "Today" show's Al Roker and "West Wing" star Alison Janney will co-host the coverage of the event, which is open to the public. Last year's ceremony packed heavy star wattage as well, as Britney Spears, 'NSYNC and Enrique Iglesias helped to illuminate the tree. |
