Due to visa constraints, Chris had to leave the country on or before June 2, so he scheduled a trip to Mexico to meet with a customer. He had a close call with a taxi driver that, for some reason thought Chris' laptop was his. Chris escaped without incident (and without paying the fare). He returned to Brasil on June 5 and had no problem re-entering Brasil - yes we had our doubts.

School ends this week and soon afterward, we will be back in the US. We have done and seen quite a bit considering we have only been here for 6 months. We have fond memories of all, well mostly all, of our experiences. We have had friends and family visit, all nice, yet mostly too short (well Pam's folks did stay three weeks!). We saw some incredible parks, Foz do Iguaçu, a truly awesome sight and enjoyed the warm water of the Atlantic at Mariscal beach.

Brianne and Jimmy are speaking portuguese better than Chris (quite a sight when we consider our first night out at a restaurant). I think they (the kids) are torn between returning to the big O and staying here. If you are a frequent surfer to this page, it will come as no surprise to you that Chris' work is far from being complete, and he will therefore be spending quite a bit of time back here.

Brianne performed in a recital (for Studio D, Escola de Dança) last Saturday. Seeing her on-stage in Brasil was very cool! She also performed a solo tap dance in ISC's talent show on Friday (5/30). She choreographed it herself and did an awesome job.

Jimmy continues to make merriment in and out of school. Last Saturday, he enjoyed Michael's birthday party at the 'Graciosa Country Club'. An entire afternoon devoted to golf and runnin' around a ritzy, stuffy country club - it just doesn't get any better.

Pam is still enjoying the good life - no, Nebraska doesn't have an exclusive, it's just their state motto. Every once in a while, Chris has to straighten her TIARA - these darn Brasilian bobby pins just don't seem to hold up very long!

Speaking of Chris, he has to leave the country by June 2 in order to keep his visa legal. He leaves for Monterrey, Mexico on June 2 and is scheduled to return on the 5th. (Lets hope the immigration officer allows him to re-enter Brasil). Chris moved out of the office building (next to the apartment) on May 30, and is now in his new digs in Cidade Industrial de Curitiba, CIC for short. Unfortunately, REI of Brasil is still not operational. Seems our crack legal team (the old ones) never applied for the proper documentation and licenses. The docs should be ready by the end of June, at which time, REI can finally buy something other than furniture, garbage cans and other household items. Chris has discovered, since firing REI's attorney, that many things that should have been accomplished were not even started. It has been an uphill climb, but he really thinks that he sees the proverbial light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Our time is running short now, and we will be home before you know it. The kids are torn about leaving. They have really found that living in a foreign country is not such a bad thing after all. They have made some good friends and they are enjoying ISC. Pam is ready to get back into her Omaha routine, however giving up her TIARA won't be easy; and Chris thought firing a Brasilian lawyer was tough, HA!

Stay well. Até mais ~Tchau~

Last day of School, June 13, hooray! We have posted an aerial view of the campus above, as well as a link to the ISC website.
