Day 1 of our Badminton Unit
1. Objectives (Specific, behavioral, assessable)
2. Anticipatory set:
(warm-up activity) Snake Run throughout gym, in and around each badminton court
3.
Pre Set:
Today we are going to learn how to properly hold and treat a badminton racquet, we will learn how to do the long and short serve, and the lob shot in badminton.
4. Content Development
· Ask Students
questions about what they currently know about badminton (let kids respond and
share)
· Demonstrate the
proper way to hold and treat the racquet.
· Have students
demonstrate to teacher that they are holding the racquet correctly.
· Demonstrate
correct way for long and short serve.
· Have students
partner up to demonstrate to teacher and to each other, the long and short
serve.
· Have students
come back, teacher will show students the boundaries of the court and the
correct service court for each side of the net.
· Students will
then go back to partners, get into each court, and demonstrate to the teacher
and each other the proper serves.
· Students will come back in, teacher will
demonstrate with partner how to do the lob shot.
·Students will partner up once again and demonstrate to each other
and the teacher how to do the lob shot for the remainder of the period.
5. Closure/Assessment:
· Be able to
demonstrate properly, how to hold and treat the racquet
· Be able to
demonstrate proper serves
Be able to demonstrate the lob shot properly

7. Protocols
· Signals are
stop and sit on the whistle and break on the word break.
