Wave
Behavior
Reflection: when a wave hits an object and bounces off of
it.
The
Law of Reflection: the angle of
incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection

Refraction—the bending of a wave caused by a change in speed as
it moves from one medium to another.

Diffraction—occurs when an object causes a wave to change
direction and bend around it.
Interference—when two or more waves combine (add up)
to form a new wave.
•
Constructive
interference—new wave is
larger than before
•
Destructive
interference—new wave is smaller
than before
Resonance—the ability of an object to vibrate by absorbing
energy at its natural frequency.
•
All objects have
a natural frequency that depends on their shape and size.
