The Bookcase
let the spider weave her web....
This is a painting by Normal Rockwell titled The Writer. Sometimes I feel just like she looks. I’m ready to scratch away at an unsuspecting pad and hole myself up in the metaphorical attic (we don’t have one, and the garage just isn’t the same). I’d love to be in there. Cobwebs and cold, it’s perfect. She is content to let ink be her thread and paper her loom.
I like to paint a little myself, you know. I may even put some pictures of some of my work up on this site if I get daring. But I learned a few years ago that my real artistic streak is probably with a pen, not paint. I’d love to paint pictures with words, deep colors, all colors, rushing forth from the earth as they were meant to be, not the staid, cool faded colors I’ve clung to far too long. I wish to weave stories as delicate and strong as the many-colored homespun of long ago. You can see my attempts at the left in categories.
... let dew fall lightly on her gossamer craft.
