The Art curriculum at Sha Tin College aims to provide our students with the opportunity to develop their practical and creative skills by making a personal response to their experiences, environment and culture. The students are able to express themselves through a wide variety of visual and tactile media and learn many transferable skills which can be used in different contexts within the whole-school curriculum and daily life. Our curriculum is designed in order to build the confidence and self-esteem of every student, regardless of ability. We believe that all students can benefit a great deal studying Art and we strive to ensure that each individual’s interests and needs are catered for throughout the course. Our year 7/8/9 courses are geared to the specific needs of our students but also satisfy the requirements of the UK National Curriculum at KS3. Art is compulsory in these years and we offer a broad range of study in order to give students a very wide knowledge and understanding of Art and Design. The year 10/11 curriculum is based on the guidelines for the Edexcel GCSE course (unendorsed). This multi-media approach gives our students a fully rounded Art education and enables them to continue their studies into AS/A2 and IB Visual Arts courses.
