Shopping List
The first thing you need to do
is take out the recipes you will be using.
Look them over and write down the ingredients you will need.
And the most important part, how much you will need.
Below, I have put together a list of the most used ingredients.
You can use this list as a shopping guide.

White, powdered and brown sugar
Molasses
Corn syrup
Milk, evaporated milk, and cream
All-purpose flour
Baking soda
Baking powder
Salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, allspice, and black pepper
Shortening
Eggs
Butter
Baking chocolate
Chocolate chips
Raisins
Walnuts, pecans, etc.
Vanilla
Sprinkles and glittery sugar
Food colorings
A variety of extracts
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons brandy
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Grease 2 large baking sheets.
3. Combine flour, margarine, and brandy in a large
mixing bowl and blend together to make dough.
4. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into
ropes approximately 1/2 inch thick.
5. Cut the ropes into five-inch strips.
6. Twist two pieces together, shape into a ring,
pinch ends together to seal.
7. Repeat with remaining dough.
8. Place rings a good distance apart on prepared baking sheets.
9. Bake rings until golden, approximately 12-15 minutes.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sliced almonds
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
Green and red colored sugar
Icing (tubed from the store)
1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugar
until light and fluffy.
2. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and almonds.
3. Beat in baking powder and flour,
1/2 cup at a time until blended.
4. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for several hours.
5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
6. On a floured surface, using a floured rolling pin,
roll out dough.
7. Using several different shaped cookie cutters,
cut out cookies.
8. Decorate with colored sugar and icing.
9. Bake cookies until just golden,
approximately 6-7 minutes.
Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup margarine
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Red and green sugar crystals
Colored jimmies
Small silver ball candies
1. In a large mixing ball, beat together margarine and sugar.
2. Beat in egg, extract, baking powder, and salt.
3. Gradually add in flour. Mix well.
4. On a floured surface, knead dough by hand and
shape into a large ball.
Wrap in plastic wrap and chill up to two hours, until firm.
5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
6. Roll dough out on a floured surface to a 1/4" thickness.
Cut out shapes with cookies cutters.
Gather trimmings, roll out and cut more cookies.
Decorate with sugar crystals, jimmies, and candies.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until brown.
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1/2 cup light molasses
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
Prepared frosting, green and red
1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together sugar and shortening.
2. Add egg, salt, baking powder, baking soda, ginger,
cinnamon, cloves, and molasses.
Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, beating until dough forms.
3. Shape dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap,
and chill for up to two hours or until firm.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. On a floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4" thickness.
6. Using gingerbread man cookie cutter,
cut out cookies.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet at least 1" apart.
7. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes, for small men,
12-15 minutes for large men.
Transfer to wire rack to cool.
8. Spread frosting over cookies. Decorate with candies.
