Our Trip to the Grand Canyon

Thanks a lot friends.

Having A Blast Productionz Go HOME

Grand Canyon, Arizona

One place on earth you have to see to believe

this page will take a little longer to load. Hopefully it's worth it.

There are only a few things in life you wish you would have done…

We left Phoenix at 9 am on Saturday morning and headed North. We were going to leave a little earlier, but we both were a little pregnant this morning. We stopped in Camp Verde for breakfast and a little 1 year anniversary gift exchange.
Well, as you can see, we weren't 20 miles out of Camp Verde and Mrs. Beard was fast asleep. I really believe her parents used to drive her around in the car to get her to go to sleep at night. (doesn't she look peaceful?)
We drove straight through Flagstaff along I-40. Someone told me that if I were going to the Grand Canyon, I must stop at a place called Bedrock. I was told it was this neat little land made to look like the old cartoon. Sure as all get out, there it was. A big giant Fred Flintstone welcoming all to come and see where he made it all happen.
I woke Kristin up to see. We were curious more than anything. For one, I've always been a fan. If for no other reason, to see Betty and Wilma. Well, it was $5.00 to get inside the little stoneage town, so we tried to sneak a peak through the gate while the security gard wasn't looking. Now, let me ask you right now; Shall I continue with this? It was a very nasty place that had broken down cars in the parking lot and entire families standing by the side of the road doing nothing but trying to figure out how to get their next pack of cigarettes.

Ah, the entrance to any National Park in the U.S. Line up and get out your wallet. It was only $20.00 per car-load to enter the park but the wildlife fun was free. They accepted VISA or MC.

We found a nice little place to park the truck along the side of the road and set out for the canyon. You can see it here as we got close. Kristin couldn't wait for me. I was busy trying to catch the moment. You can see here there trying to hide behind the tree.
Who is this guy with his arms in the air? Yup! That's me. I made it. What a place this is. You really have to see it to believe it.
We ducked in to the visitor's center to find out exactly what happened and why there is such a big hole in the ground. I guess about 25 million years ago, there was so much water running through here that it started diggin' a ditch. That water we know as the Colorado River.
The rocks are desert rocks and sand, but over a few (million) years, it carved a path deep through the earth and made this big hole. So remember that when you leave your garden hose on.
Here we are. There is no wall around the canyon. You could theoretically fall off and down a long way.
Stay tuned for our trip home.
