Armadillos are found mostly in South and Central America. The nine-banded armadillo is the only one to be found in United States and is known as the state mammal of Texas. The armadillo is believed to have the ability to roll into a ball when it senses any kind of danger. However, only three-banded armadillos can do this because the others are inflexible due to their hard covering. The nine-banded armadillo can jump 4 feet up in the air, if it is startled.
