The ocean and sky were below and above, both dark, empty, so cold, pale light running weakly through both, and really, weren't they the same thing, after all? In the end they would flow together and be all that there was. Like it was now. It rippled and it didn't feel like it should, because she rippled with it. So sad, that there was nothing in so much. She wanted to reach out and touch it, but she had no hands. She wanted her tears to run into it, but there were no tears, no eyes for them to fall from.
Then there was a feeling, a simple thing, as if she had let out a breath and could see it, frost in the lonely air. The void burned against her like ice, it's sickly light taunting her, wavering, refusing to choose a side- sea or sky?
Something shifted. Not the nothing, that would never change, never leave. It must have been herself that was different. Some of the lights danced less, accepted some form; half of them seemed to crystalize, and then she realised that they had become stars...
