STORYLINE
Deep in the void of space, the fate of humanity holds on to existence by a perilously tenuous tether. A rift in space and time has been discovered, operated by the malicious over-fiends, the TimeSplitters. They have been traveling back into human history authoring events that have led to the enslavement of mankind.
On this space station outpost hosting the rift, two space marines frantically battle with the TimeSplitters. Outgunned and outnumbered, the situation seems futile. Moments before the space marines are overwhelmed, they finally discover what they are looking for - the device that enables the TimeSplitters to travel through time. They slam and secure the door behind them and turn to examine the room.
As they secure the door behind them, they are too late to prevent two TimeSplitters from removing crystals from the device controls and leaping separately into the rift. The TimeSplitters have taken the only means of healing the rift and entered into human past to secure the enslavement of humankind.
While one of the space marines mans the Time Portal, the other leaps into the shimmering field to chase the fleeing TimeSplitters through episodes of history to recover the crystals. Only through complete recovery of the crystals can the battle against the TimeSplitters be won.
In control of the pursuant space marine, you'll jump through time into the likenesses of characters such bounty hunters, mercenaries, swashbucklers, gunslingers, crime fighters, and space jockeys, all who are up against the thwarting influence of the TimeSplitters in their own time.
It is through this motley crew of renegades that you must hunt down the TimeSplitters and recover the Time Portal device crystals in places in time like the gangster-ridden 1920's, the Wild West, lush jungles of the overgrown Aztec temples, and Soviet military installations of the 1980's.
Only by recovering all the crystals will you be able to seal the rift and thus fate of cruel TimeSplitters affliction. This huge task is left in the hands of one person. You.
