In memory of Charles McClure, one of the best.

One of my best friends back in Indiana, Chuck McClure, moved out here to San Jose with me back in 2000. He moved back for his family back in 2003 and was planning on moving back out here with me early next year. He was supposed to come visit me in 2 weeks.

I just received word this morning, 11/18/04 that he was on his way home from work when he lost control of his car and got in an accident. He did not make it. He had to drive an hour everyday to work and an hour back. He's one of the hardest workers I've ever known, putting in 14 hours of manual labor a day, so I imagine he was really tired and driving an hour home. Plus it's cold in Indiana right now and it was probably icy out there, especially on the back country roads and highways. Here is the story so far posted by WLFI Channel 18 news.

"Man Killed in One-Car Wreck North of West Lafayette"

A wreck on State Road 43 this morning killed the driver, and closed the highway for two hours. The driver is identified as Charles McClure, 26, West Lafayette. Tippecanoe County deputy Greg Frantz says it happened just north of Wabash Valley Hospital. The car had been going south, and for some reason veered left of center. McClure drove partially off the left side of the road, then overcorrected and lost control. His car went off the right side of the road and struck a group of trees. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

For those of us that knew Chuck, he was one of the best guys you'll ever meet in this world. For those of us fortunate to have been close to him, you know that no matter what, he always put everyone else and their best interest infront of his own. Actually, he was even like this to people he didn't know! Humble, honest, easy going, always down and had your back, fun.... there will never be anyone like him.

Rest in peace, buddy, I'll miss you, we all miss you.
