The River View Lodge, originally know as the Mountain Inn, is an historic Inn. During the 1900s, the Lodge was the main hotel and only poker parlor in Old Kernville. The town was know for its rustic, Old West ways displayed by roughneck ranchers, miners and fortune-seekers. During the roaring twenties, Old Kernville was still the hopping spot in the Kern River Valley. With its beautiful shimmering cottonwoods and breath-taking vistas, movie stars filled the streets as production companies churned out a parade of Big Westerns.
When the dam was built in 1953, creating Lake Isabella, Old Kernville disappeared beneath the rising waters. But not before the cabins of the Mountain Inn, which had been built to accommodate the movie stars, were relocated upriver to their present home on the banks of the Kern River in the heart of Kernville.
Today, the historic cedar-bark clad cabins of the old Lodge have been completely renovated, refurbished and restored, with all the modern conveniences. However, the rustic, country charm still lives.
