04-16-2005 vs. Alaska Aces - Game 4, West Division Semifinals

Game 4 of the ECHL West Division Semifinals. The Condors scratch and claw their way to a 4-3 overtime victory to even the series up at two games a piece. But that's not the big story on the minds of Aces and Condors fans. NHL All-Star and Stanley Cup Champion Scott Gomez is seriously injured after a hard check by the Condors Ashlee Langdone sends him sprawling into the corner of the Aces bench doorway. Gomez is taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital where he is diagnosed with a pelvic fracture.

The game, which was tight from the start, turns chippy. The Condors take a 3-1 lead into the third period but two Aces goals, the second coming with less than 4 seconds left in regulation, sends the game into overtime. Only 25 seconds in, Aces goalie Peter Aubry makes a critical mistake, getting caught outside his net and Brad Mehalko pots the game winner, sending the crowd of 6,006 into a frenzy and sending the series back to Anchorage for a winner-take-all Game 5.

Not too many pics. I was cheering my throat raw
