Recipe of the week: New Year's Recipe

Hello recipe lovers,

We will be approaching New year's Day, and maybe some of you are planning to have a New Year's party at home, instead of going out. Well, I have come up with a wonderful Party Platter that can satisfy all your guests, and have a wonderful time, without worrying what to prepare.

I call this my New Year's Party buffet, and best of all, they can serve themselves as you enjoy the party as well.

Before we do begin, the type of champagne needed for your party is called Spamanti Rosa - in English form it's called, pink champagne.

Now depending on how many guests (which will get at least one glass full to celebrate>, I add it to my punch bowl, as they serve themselves. Buy 10 Bottles for 50 guests, 5 Bottles for 25 Guests, or more depending if you will be serving other liquor.

Make sure, though, that they do not drive home if they are drunk, we want to keep the roads safe as well.

Now that there will be pink champagne in your punch bowl, we need a buffet to go with it, so please follow carefully, as you will need plenty of ingredients to begin your party, but guaranteed you will also have a good time, without worrying about your guests.

(Also do not forget to get juice and soda's, because not everyone drinks anymore.)

Ingredients Needed: Six Large Platters to put your buffet in; I prefer them oval shaped. At least 200 plastic plates, cups, spoons ,forks, knives, all plastic which will be easy to clean (just throw them away in the garbage bag.) Another good idea, when you have a party, clean up time is the most exhausting afterward, and most of us want to relax afterwards.

My First Platter, is called the meat platter; and yes, just meats. You may decide what you want in it, but make sure it has a variety of meats. Once you purchase all your cold cuts, they all need to be rolled and put into the platter neatly. I also add chocolates around the platter, but I make sure they are already wrapped.

Second is my Cheese Platter - featuring all kinds of cheese, with toothpicks in them. I buy the decorated toothpicks because they add a touch of class. As I said with the meat platter, you must have a variety of cheese. Cut them into squares and add a toothpick in each one. As an option, I normally buy a package of crackers, and leave them beside the cheese platter. Again, I add chocolates around the platter, already wrapped.

Third is my Veggie platter: one of my favorites, because it is so healthy. Buy a variety of vegetables (your choice) and steam them for 5 minutes, no longer then 7, otherwise your veggies will fall apart on people. Another important factor is: Do not serve warm, wait until all veggies are cool. Get a small bowl, buy sour cream and put it into the bowl, put it into the middle of your veggie platter. Note: I know some people like Blue cheese, but I found out a lot do not, so be safe than sorry, just buy sour cream.

My fourth platter is my bread platter. This one I really bake on my own, I make dinner rolls, buns and so forth, but you may buy all kinds of breads at the store. In the middle of the platter, I put margarine, butter and honey in small bowls. Yes I found out a lot of people prefer honey, so now it's included in my platter. Make sure you have a good variety of bread.

My fifth platter is my chips platter. Yes it's a junkie platter, with a variety of chips, and a variety of dips. Make sure your dips are in the middle of the platter.

My sixth platter is my fruit platter: Another one of my favorites, so refreshing, makes my stomach feel much better after eating such a dinner. Make sure you have a variety of fruits, and don't forget the bananas. I always seem to forget that, and people seem to like that fruit so much they complain if it's not there. I actually found it funny, but they are very serious about the bananas -- it's the most popular fruit, don't forget that.

Now I know I don't normally add this platter, but you may want to add it to your party, and that's the peanut platter: This is a very popular platter, I just don't seem to like it. However, make sure if you want this platter to buy a variety of peanuts, and add chocolates that are wrapped around your platter.

Another idea I want to give you is to make punch(without liquor) -- just with all types of fruits and juices, almost like Hawaiians drink. If possible, buy the cute little umbrellas for another touch of class.

Well just doing this with you is already exhausting, but I do hope it helps your party preparations, another gift from all of The NewsMoose and Mother Lucia.

Happy New Year to all,

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
A New Year's Poem

The New year is coming;
And what will your wish be;
Maybe some wish more money,
Some want more honey.

Some want to be happy,
Some want more and more,
Which one are you?
Maybe the one that searches
God's door.

Whatever your wish may be,
Just remember one thing,
Just try to be happy
This time for eternity.
