Invincible Young Warriors

All species evolve in tandem with their enemies. Our only viable enemy for a significant evolutionary period has been other groups of "us". How have we adapted?

In Nature, it is upside-down for offspring to protect parents, yet we humans are able to convince young unmated males to do our fighting? How is this unnatural arrangement accomplished?

Feathered Spirits is a short story about an accident involving two young boys: It explains the evolutionary reasons for "thrill-seeking" and is a plea for a more comprehensive teaching of evolution. (1400 words)

Tricks is a poetic synopsis of the "Invincible Young Warrior" theory.

Were the young males of our species designed to be expendable? Many would say no... but to some, the answer is a sorrowful yes. We males go through an instinctive expendable warrior stage and the entire species is in on this evolutionary conspiracy. Not convinced? You're in big company.
