Scarlet Letter Essay
The title of the novel is Scarlet Letter and the author of the novel is Nathaniel Hawthorne. The character that will discuss about Hester Prynne, a woman who must wear the scarlet letter and she is the mother of Pearl. Also, she is the wife of Roger Chillingworth but Arthur Dimmesdale is the father of Pearl. Hester made a similar mistake that she cheated on her husband, Chillingsworth. She was being with Dimmesdale and had a daughter named Pearl together. Hester commits adultery and she was forced to wear a scarlet letter “A” on her chest for entire grievous life. She had to be torment by wearing the scarlet letter “A” in the public because she refused to tell the people who’s the father of her daughter, Pearl. Hester can be longsuffering to hear the people were being amenable about her but she can live with it because she will get used to it.
I agree that Hester decided to remain in Boston because her secret lover still lived in Boston. She didn’t want to leave Dimmesdale because she loved him so much and wanted to have a family with him and her daughter together. Another reason, Hester wanted to stay in Boston because she wanted to survive all throughout with the scarlet letter “A” on her chest. She wanted to prove everybody that she can change into a better person and be a good mother for her daughter, Pearl. I think it’s good experience for Hester to have like be brave enough to stay in Boston and trying to go thru everything with her life, didn’t want the people to feel congenial for Pearl to have Hester as her mother, raising her daughter, hiding the secret from everybody, however she would learn her sins that she wasn’t supposed to cheat on her husband for another man.
I had a similar decision to make when I was 13 years old, I got stuck in the middle of two boys named Gabriel and Eddie because both of them liked me. I didn’t know which one that I should pick who’s one is good enough for me to be with. I had been thinking about it and decided to pick Gabriel. The reason that I made that decision was because I knew him longer than I knew Eddie. Also, Eddie’s demeanors were rude and not respect everybody. I didn’t want feel ignominious if I was being with him. The two reasons why I made the decision are that I wanted to give Gabriel a chance to see how’s it going for us. I really like Gabriel more than Eddie. Also, I wanted to see if Eddie could improve himself into a better guy with respect, being nice and sweet to everybody then I might be able to give him another chance in the future. I think that my decision is much different than Hester’s decision because I didn’t do anything wrong with two guys. Hester did something wrong like she just cheated on her husband and had a child with another man. I did not cheat on Gabriel or Eddie and I was just giving them some chances to be with me. If I was Hester, I would get divorce with Chillingsworth then I can proceed to be with Dimmesdale and have a child with him. My life can be more easier without any serious problems like I refused to tell the people who’s father of Pear; then it can cause more problems for me.
The decisions that Hester and I made the reveals that we just followed our heart to the boys that we really liked or loved. For example, I liked Gabriel so much than Eddie. Hester loved Dimmesdale so much than Chillingsworth. The lesson that Hester had learned that she shouldn’t have married with Chillingsworth in the first place, she should wait for a little more longer. She can meet Dimmesdale in Boston but she was already married with Chillingsworth. She wasn’t supposed to cheat on him to be with Dimmesdale. The lesson that I had learned that I have to follow my heart to the right boy that I really like a lot, do feel really comfortable to be around him, getting along and developing our trust. I agree with statement, “Life is a series of trials and errors. If we are smart we learn from our mistakes” because we have to decided on our own, with our justice and decision to make and choose the best for our lives. Throughout of our lives, we will have much different kind of situations that would eventually happen anytime and anywhere. We will have to handle all of the problems that would show up in our lives. We can’t get away from it or else, it can make it worst with the hypocrisy around us. We also should have the trials our lives. It can help us to solve the problem and keep everything calm but without these trials in our lives. We wouldn’t be able to live on the world because it can be probably go crazy with no control.
