"All ready?" shouted the Weyrlingmaster. "Ready!" chorused the eager weyrlings. "Then GO!" Oppeth sprang into the air, the fastest to get airborne by a split second. Senina smiled and patted her dragon's emerald-green neck. Good one, 'Peth dear. Fastest green, you are! she praised her dragon. Of course I am, 'Nina! replied the green smugly as they glided back down to the ground. Senina raised her eyebrows and shot back teasingly You took off earlier, didn't you? and shook with silent laughter at her dragon's indignant I did not!

I can't believe you're all grown up now, Oppeth! Senina mused to her dragon. Oppeth's deep green bulk was several times the size it was at her momentous hatching. It seemed that the green dragon had grown up in the blink of an eye, instead of the two long Turns it had actually been. Well, I am bigger than some of the others! Oppeth agreed with a touch of smugness.
Just then, Senina's two special-colored flits popped out of between. The silvery purple female, Luthienna, landed delicately between Oppeth's eyes, while the golden reddish bronze, Sunfire, took up his accustomed perch on Senina's shoulder.
