Who's Darin? Before packing up for college, Darin lived in Orange County, Calif, a self-centered world of gilded shopping centers (AND lot of great opportunity for which he is still grateful). There Darin poured himself into his schoolwork and lived with his father, a retired social worker who had worked over 30 years for Los Angeles County. Now he's an undergraduate at Stanford and here are some of his links:

I wish to add that I created these pages with the ever-so-powerful Windows Notepad, a fact I'm sure is reflected in the technical genius displayed here.

Halloween '99, as boy wonder.

REALLY old pics:

Last year I attempted to learn swing, in addition to other dances, but the class was way too early in the morning and I don't remember anything. Still want to learn, though! Here I am (in front of the Yosemite picture) with my dormmates before the freshman formal dance.

These past two summers I made my home at Cal Berkeley, my school's amazing archrival. Aside from the aggressive homeless people, the nonexistent parking, the sloping inclines wherever you walk (any Berkeley student has a butt you could bounce a rock off of) and the fact that all the sidewalks smell like human excrement, I found Berkeley a very wonderful place. Truly, I do love Berkeley, or else I wouldn't have lived there two summers in a row. I'd sometimes ponder transferring... until I'd quickly come to my senses!

During that first summer there I took classes worked as an intern [CLICK HERE FOR OUR GROUP PIC] at the Office of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in SF. When I wasn't working or studying, I spent A LOT of time exploring romantic San Francisco. One weekend I was asked to lead a group of 45 Berkeley summer students into enemy territory - on a tour of Stanford - many of us wearing blue and gold, traveling in Cal's "Go Bears!" bus -- a lot of fun! (BUT I AM STILL AND ALWAYS 100% GUNG HO STANFORD, CARDINAL TO THE CORE)

Second summer in Berkeley I lived in a frat house and commuted every day to the City, where I worked for a leading affinity-oriented Internet media company. It was a summer of adventure. :-)

San Francisco Arts Monthly: site all about arts and cultural events in this great city!

Check out The Orange County Register ; Awhile back, through my little teen movie reviews in the paper's Show section, I exerted my power (ha!) on the motion picture box office. Looking back I see that some of my reviews were pretty harsh and let me just say that I had no problem assigning to movies the lowest "Bomb" rating; in fact, I think my "refined" film taste allowed me to give only one glowing review - to Scream 2. :-P

Orange County Fifth District Supervisor Tom Wilson, at whose office I was an intern. Dressing up back then to go to his office was pretty cool, and now I feel kind of loyal to that place.

In high school I had this little obsession with CNN's Inside Politics (especially with the theme music) and anchor Judy Woodruff. Were it not for that inspirational news music, I don't know if I'd have become as interested in politics. Check out the always fresh content (including some political stuff) at Salon Magazine.
