Pitzer College's Student Senate is THE student government at Pitzer College. The Executive Board of Student Senate is chaired by the President, and the Vice-President, the Treasurer, the Secretary, and the Communications Secretary all serve on the board as well. Senate is composed of the Executive Board, as well as multiple student representatives to every standing College Committee, one representative from Hall Councils, 4 class representatives, one off-campus representative, one new resources representative and one PACE representative, a staff representative and 2 faculty representatives. Student votes make up 1/3 of College Council; the President of Senate is one of the three members of the Pitzer Community that can call College Council meetings and set the agenda (the other two being the President of the college and the Dean of Faculty). Senators have, in the past, initiated a wide range of changes, and have launched various bills in the past few years, changing the parking policy and the grading system, helping to start a co-operative bookstore, and massively altering the Senate Constitution - and these are just a few of the major bills that have come up! The Senate is also a fiduciary organization and is responsible for distributing Student Activities funds to various Pitzer and 5-College clubs and organizations.
