About This Web Site
Few people know that the original Monoplane or heavier than air flying
machine was invented by William H. Martin in Canton, Ohio in 1886 when he
created the prototype for his monoplane which was later flown by the
Martins in 1909. William H. Martin's grandson, William H. (Bill) Martin II
is responsible for bringing his grandfather's story to the public. It is
Bill's wish that his grandfather get the recognition deserved as being one
of the leading pioneers in the history of aviation. This web site tells
the Martin story.
