Ulysses S. Grant



Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio and attended the United States Military Acadeny at West Point.

Grant served in the Mexican-American war but later called it "one of the most unjust wars ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation."

On August 22, 1848, Grant married a woman named Julia Dent in Saint Louis.

He was put in the rank of luietenant general during the Civil War. A rank which before Grant, had only been held by George Washington.

He later served as the 18th President of the United States of America from 1869-1877.

Ulysses S. Grant died on July 23, 1885 at 63.



Famous speech or quote: "The war is over." Grant reminded his troops in 1865 when the war had ended.
