Jefferson Davis was president of the Confederacy. He was born on June 3, 1808 in Christian County, Kentucky. After South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas seceded (seperated from the Union), Davis established a Confederate army and government.
In April of 1865, when the Confederacy was coming to an end, he fled from Richmond, Virginia.
Davis was caught by Federal rivalrymen in Southern Georgia and imprisoned for two years and released in 1867.
