A Very Dark Night
Always walk with a buddy when it gets dark
Don't worry I'll be okay
Always be aware of your surroundings
Don't worry, I'm always cautious
Theft, Assault, Rape, Death
Don't worry, it will never happen to me…
I cautiously walked into the darkness
My eyes were wide and alert
And I saw him
My pace quickened due to instinct
As I heard him
My body turned for I sensed danger
Then I felt him
My face was numb for it was struck
I ran as my tears were running
My screams echoed throughout the street
And then the incident was over
But the horror remains…
My sense of security is lost in the night
My trust is no longer without cost
My freedom to look and smile is gone
My tranquility has been disrupted
I will never be the same again
For it did happen to me
