Spiritual Marriage to Rusty

On the night of the winter solstice, where the full moon was waxing (a moon that had not occurred in over 133 years), and the alignment of the sun, moon and earth were just right, something magickal and spiritual occurred. Wednesday, December 22,1999 a spiritual marriage took place during the most energized night of the millennium.

Two souls were joined as one in a Ceremony where only the God, Goddess, nature, the stars and moon and the spirits around where witnesses. The Bride, myself, performed the Ceremony, one of which I had never had knowledge of before a few days prior. The Husband, a truly loving person had faith that I would join our two souls forever.

~ The Ceremony ~

The Ceremony took place surrounded by nature as we wanted the God and Goddess to bless the joining and the full moon's energy to shine down upon us. The altar was a flat stone that stood about two feet high and about 3x2 feet.

There were two pink candles, one placed to the left and the other to the right representing the love of the two souls. There was a white candle placed in the center representing the joining of the souls, the union. There was incense in front of either pink candle, representing the bride and the groom.

To the left of the Union candle was a glass dish with runes and colored stones, each representing various aspects of the spiritual marriage: love, understanding, oneness, protection, joy, and much more. Just in front of the white candle there stood a goblet with peach nectar (peach tea actually), representing the fruitfulness of the love the two of us have.

To right of the Union candle was another glass dish, this one carried in it the four elements of nature: fire, air, water and earth. (a match for fire, ashes from incense for air, droplets of water, and a rock for earth)

And, finally, there lying outstretched from one pink candle to the other, was a colored cord of pink, red and white. There was also a circle of flowers and leaves placed around the two of us before the altar so that we would be one with nature through the ceremony and are protected by nature.

The Ceremony began with an innovation given by myself asking the God, Goddess, the energies of Nature and the moon to bless this joining, to witness it, and never let anything tear it apart. I called upon each of the four elements for their energies to be present at this special moment.

At that moment, or a moment therein, there appeared a female black cat that entered our circle of marriage. She went from Rusty and then to me, back and forth, rubbing against our legs. She left the circle only once the entire ceremony.

As the bride, I approached the pink candle to the left of the Union candle and lit it, and then lit the incense in front of it. I stepped into the circle of flowers. The groom, Sir DM, stepped forward and lit the pink candle to the right of the Union candle and the incense in front of it. He then steps back into the circle of flowers.

I began my words of the ceremony" It is said that God and Goddess created nature first, so it is fitting that we enjoy the energy of nature as a representation of the temples of God and Goddess, to witness and support the union of Silverdawn and Rusty."

I continued to speak "May the love be as sweet and light as the natures gifts that make the circle of love that join the two of our souls. Let these encircle us both with peace."

A prayer was given to ask that the God and Goddess bless the marriage.

"Gentle God and Goddess whose energy and love formed all things, powers of creation, spirits of nature, guardians and guides, we ask for thy presence and blessing in the sacred circle of marriage to witness these two souls in marriage. Celebrate with us this declaration of their union, which already exists in their hearts, and help them ever to walk the path of beauty in confidence together. So mote it be."

Words were exchange by Rusty and myself of love, trust, respect and forever being together. I then removed the glass container from the left of the Union Candle and explained what the symbolic tokens represented: devotion, love, strength, purity, commitment, etc. I asked the God and Goddess to accept the tokens and cast upon us what they represented.

I then removed the glass container from the right of the Union candle and what each of the four elements represented in this marriage: fire; to burn away the old life and make way for the new one to begin, earth; to give a foundation and a place upon which we may begin building our relationship together, air; to give flight to our hopes and dreams teaching us creativity and flexibility so that we may grow together despite the winds of change, and finally water; to remind us both to flow with life's ever moving current gently, to rain our feelings lightly on one another so as to nourish and refresh our souls, and of course the cord, (represented as a fifth element vital to life), to bind all things together into the spark of magick through the law of love.

We then exchange words of love and devotion to each other again.

I then removed the goblet of peach nectar and explained that in ancient days, they were used to honor the Sacred powers of all creation. This nectar would symbolize longevity, wisdom and joy. We both drank from the cup.

We then took vows stating our undying love for each other, at the very end stating" By my honor, let it be so."

I removed the ring from the table (it was sitting next to the nectar on the altar), and asked the God and Goddess to bless the ring. I handed it to Rusty and he slipped it upon my finger stating his love once again and stating, "with this ring I pledge my love."

He also explained what the ring symbolized. The ring is silver, with a silver circle at the top representing the unending love. It has a diamond in the circle to represent the Goddess. Just below the circle is a silver triangle. That represents three most important aspects of the relationship: love, commitment and understanding. Inside the triangle is a green stone. The green stone represents nature. And, just below the triangle are two silver beads dangling representing Rusty and I.

We then exchanged words and I told him for the first time that I loved him deeply. We then each took our pink candles from the altar and lit the Union candle to finalize the union between us.

I gave the nuptial blessing, "May the blessings of life, the joys of love, the peace of truth, the wisdom of the soul and the strength of the Spirit be thy constant companions now and always. So mote it be."

I then prayed to thank the God and Goddess, nature and the moon for being present for the ceremony and blessing us.

I then took the cord and wrapped my left wrist with his right wrist as a final symbol of joining. I then said a few words to finalize the joining. As this was done, the black cat disappeared. Neither one of us had realized it had even left. No idea where it came from and no idea where it went to. That cat was a symbol of the presence of the God and Goddess and the blessing we each received.

It was done, ever so spiritually. The most perfect wedding. The energy flowed through us and into each other. It was a wonderful night.

I will love Rusty, for now and always

Silverdawn
