In Fatima, Portugal on May 13, 1917, three children were tending their flock of sheep. They were cousins, Lucia 10, Francisco 9, and Jacinta 7. Suddenly they saw a very beautiful lady appear to them. She was brighter than the sun, standing on a cloud in a big tree.The beautiful lady told them she would come back on the 13th of every month until
October. The children were given messages from Mary for us.
On October 13, Lucia asked the beautiful lady who she was. Mary replied, "I am Our Lady of the Rosary. I wish a chapel to be built in my honor on this spot."
On that same day, there were thousands of people there hoping to see Mary. No one did except the 3 children. To let the people know she was really there, Mary performed a miracle.It was raining that day and people were all wet. Suddenly, it stopped raining and the sun shone brightly. Then the sun began to spin and move toward the earth. This lasted for about 10 minutes. The people that had been rain soaked were dry now and some were healed of their diseases.
Mary told us to continue saying the rosary everyday. We must mend our ways. We are offending Our Lord. We must pray for people throughout the world and accept our difficulties.
Mary also gave us a prayer to say:
