This is the weirdest G Wing story I can come up with and it’s quite interesting (from my POV)…e-mail me if you like it… Once again, I no own Gundam Win, k? (Disclaimers suck!)

Chapter One: QUEST FOR JUSTICE
Written by: Mainime

"Okay, we’re dealing with a suicidal maniac here, people. He’s crazy, but he ain’t stupid. He’s bombed up more buildings than my fingers can count and he’s still not satisfied. We have got to do something. We’re NYPD for crying out loud!"

It was a hot day in New York City and the NYPD elite force was holding a meeting in the Captain’s office.

The captain was a man in his late twenties with long, platinum blond hair and icy blue eyes that meant business. Beside him was his Special Forces partner, Lucrezia Noin, a woman with short ebony hair and commanding cobalt-blue eyes.

He had called the meeting after receiving a distress call from the manager of the newest World Trade Center.

He and his officers were having a hard time trying to figure out what to do when one of the policemen, a Chinese youth in his teens interrupted. He was fairly new to the department, having been transferred from Hong Kong.

"Who is this bomber, Captain? Is there a ransom he demands?"

"Special Agent Chang Wufei, I will answer the first question. This bomber is someone I am certain you all know. He isn’t new in this kind of thing and he’s never been caught once. Not a newbie, I can assure you. It’s that terrorist, Heero Yuy. And no, he does not demand any ransom. Seems that he gets a kick out of his job."

Enforcer Trowa whooshed out a breath of air. "You’re right. We all KNOW him. TOO WELL, I must add. He’s been in and out of the country, bombing important buildings and destroying millions of dollars worth of property."

Lieutenant Treize looked very worried. "Captain Zechs, doesn’t he have a weakness of some sort?"

A woman with strawberry-blond hair tied in two braids nodded. "Officers Cathrine and Dorothy are working on it, aren’t you girls?"

A girl with long blond hair and weird-shaped eyebrows stood up. "Actually, Sergeant Sally, we already found out his weakness. But this is might come as a shock to the Captain and the others, here."

Zechs furrowed his brows. "I’m waiting to hear it. Tell us."

"Uh…well…he…uh…seems to have a THING for…ahem…sandy-brown hair and blue-green eyes," Officer Quatre remarked.

All eyes and ears shifted to the Interrogation Room where Detective Relena was busy, bombarding her latest catch with questions. Unfortunately, the man didn’t answer a thing, disbelieving in her capability to blow off steam.

"Alright, Murray. I’m asking you NICELY now. Who’s behind this drug-dealing scam?" her voice slowly turning to ice.

"In a pig’s eye, bitch! Why in hell’s name would I tell a little girl like you?" the man sneered.

The detective closed her eyes and whooshed out another breath. This man was definitely not cooperating. Time for desperate measures.

She strode over to the corner table and picked up her gun. Walking back to the stubborn man, she stood directly above him and aimed the gun in between his thighs.

"If you don’t TELL me anything this minute, I’ll SHOOT your BALLS off, Murray."

Murray snorted. "Oh yeah? PROVE IT!"

BANG!

Murray’s eyes were shut tight in fear and he waited for the searing pain that should have followed through. Instead, the smell of burning wood permeated the air. He opened his eyes and looked down.

There was a small hole punctured on the chair, just inches away from his…(A.N: I’m not very good with details. Just imagine the guy sitting on the chair with his legs spread.)

"Murray, if I had fired SOONER, that would have been the END of your pro-creation days. Now, I want you to tell me EVERYTHING and don’t hold back because I’m extremely PISSED and people like you can drive me APESHIT," the young woman glared.

Everyone in Zechs’ office gulped and looked away. The detective was definitely someone not to mess with, just like her brother.

Zechs frowned slightly. "Don’t tell me that we have to convince my SISTER to be the BAIT! Convincing her can be hell. She doesn’t approve of things like this."

Special Forces Leader Lady Une sighed. "We don’t have much choice. It seems that Heero Yuy has developed some kind of pattern now. His hostages all have the same physical attributes. Aside from that, he hasn’t done any inter-state bombing for the last couple of months. It seems that the city holds something of importance to him."

Enforcer Duo, the loudest of them all, snorted. "Well, either that, or he’s just plan weird. I wonder how the detective will react to that. When she does know about our plan, there will be hell to pay. And I’ll dig a hole and bury myself before she does. I wanna live long enough to get hitched, guys."

Everyone in the office tried to picture the detective once she knew about this. They gulped again. It was not something to look forward to. She used to be a sweet girl of fifteen, but after she graduated from college and got a job, she had become a hot-tempered woman with an iron will.

"Alright, let’s just get back to what we are supposed to do," Lucrezia said, sitting down near a window.

Lieutenant Treize massaged the bridge of his nose and replied, "The worst thing he just did, recently, was bomb the Empire State Building. If he gets close to the Statue of Liberty, I swear I’ll $@#*&^+`!"

Officer Hilde waved him off. "We’ll get to him before he does that, Lieutenant. I’ve been trying to brush up the other squad members."

Cathrine closed the file cabinet and strode over to the group. "Well, in the meantime, what should we do?"

Zechs sighed. "I believe it’s time to let my little sister in on the plan. Just brace yourselves."

And everyone did just that.

MINUTES LATER…

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" Relena’s indignant scream exploded throughout the office.

"Relena, I know you don’t like it but ~"

"YOU CAN BET YOUR SHIT ON THAT! I DON’T LIKE YOUR PLAN ONE BIT!"

"But this is the best plan we can come up with," Zechs tried to reason, but to no avail. His sister was not taking to it very well.

The young woman and her brother were facing off again and the office seemed to erupt with their arguments. Some tried to look in the office and they saw a play of emotions on the siblings’ faces. The older one’s eyes were pleading, beseeching. The other’s was on fire, acid written all over her once lovely face.

"But, Relena, You’re the only one fit enough for this role," Zechs replied again.

"Why can’t you get another girl to do that, Zechs?!" Relena demanded, aquamarine eyes turning into an angry gray.

"Well, how many girls have aquamarine eyes and sandy-brown hair?"

"About a million other girls in two states alone! That’s it! I’m leaving!" She started to stalk out of the room to work on the mug shots when Zechs grabbed her leg, making her drag him across the office.

"But- b-but you can’t just leave!?"

"LIKE HELL I CAN’T! LEGGO MY LEG!"

"Please? Pleeeeeeeease?" *scrape* *scrape* "No! Nonononononono!" "Pleeeeeeeaaaaassssse?" *scrape* *thud* *scrape* *thud*

Relena took one look at her brother and grew sweat drops. His wheedling was getting on her nerves and aside from that, everyone in the office was giving them unusual looks.

"Alright, alright already," she grumbled, prying off her brother. "But you owe me BIG TIME!" she added.

Everyone in the office cheered.

Chapter Two: JUMP STREET

In another part of the NYPD police station, Officer Hilde was practicing on how to dismantle a bomb. Yesterday, it was dynamite. Now, it was a C-4. Her hands were shaking as she tried to cut the wires and Lieutenant Treize was monitoring her.

"Roses are red, violets are blue," she whispered, tensing.

"Officer Hilde, relax. Grace under pressure. Tension only spoils everything," Treize stated, while watching her.

"I’ll do my best, sir." She licked her lips and tried to finish.

"Sugar is sweet and ~"

Suddenly, Enforcer Duo strode in and burst out. "HEY, HILDE! WE NEED HELP UP HERE!"

Hilde jumped and suddenly cut the wrong wire. The fake C-4 exploded and when the smoke cleared, she was shaking with rage.

Lieutenant Treize spoke over the intercom. "You botched up, Schbeker. I hate to tell you, but we’re all DEAD."

"I was DISTRACTED, sir," she glared at Duo, who scooted back immediately, but not before laughing at her muck-up.

"Distractions are not to be tolerated in this field, Hilde. You have to have presence of mind. Dismantling a bomb takes up a lot of concentration. Take a break," Treize called out, shooting an angry glare Duo’s way.

Hilde sighed and walked out of the practice room, only to be enveloped by Duo’s bear hug.

"Hey, babe. How’s your day?"

"Fine, until you showed up," she smirked.

"Maybe this will compensate for your untimely DEMISE at my hands," he laughed and kissed her.

For a while, they stood there and kissed. But Hilde managed to break away from the kiss when something nagged her at the back of her mind. Duo looked at her, surprised and disappointed that she would end the kiss so quickly. Hilde smiled and tugged at his long braid.

"You distract me, Braidy Boy, but no more! What is it you needed help with anyway?"

"Mmm. That can wait. THIS is a lot more important," Duo replied and tried to reach out for Hilde again.

She dodged and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Duo, what is it?"

"The mug shots. Apparently, detective Relena has to have the day off to get ready for her new ‘assignment’ and the captain wants us to replace her shift."

"Well, I do hope she fits it to a ‘T’. And not for her sake, but for everyone else’s."

NOT VERY FAR AWAY…

Relena gazed at her reflection critically in a nearby store window. ‘Not bad at all. Just too CASUAL.’

She was wearing a pair of navy blue stretch pants and a white form-fitting tank top. To complete the outfit, she wore a pair of the latest Nike running shoes and she swept her hair in a braid. Nothing like her uniform or her jeans, black jacket, and two-inch boots.

Zechs had chosen a rather athletic outfit for her and she felt uncomfortable. Young men walked by and gave her more-than-long-enough looks and she sighed. She hated it when a guy would just "check her out". It drove her nuts.

She cast the men her best death stare and then crossed 5th Avenue and entered a coffee shop. As soon as she sat down in one booth, a waitress approached her with a pen and notepad.

"What’ll it be?" she asked, placing a hand on a rounded hip. Relena nearly choked, seeing how long and red the girl’s nails were. ‘Heh…it’s a miracle she doesn’t break a nail. And I thought Dorothy was weird.’

"I’ll have a BLT, fries, and a double espresso. Spare the sugar," she replied. The waitress gave her one last sharp look and headed to the counter. Relena turned her head to the window, focusing her thoughts on the life going on outside.

‘N.Y…the city that doesn’t sleep…I love it here…’

"That’s quite an appetite for a pretty thing like you. Just how do you keep your figure?" A deep, masculine voice broke her out of her reverie and she found herself staring into ocean-blue depths that could very well drown any woman.

"I burn it off through HARD WORK," she replied, slightly amused. She was not one to fall for any traps set by men. She had seen enough.

Strangely, Relena had a hard time trying to keep a steady gaze. This man was unlike any that she had ever seen.

He had dark brown hair that looked unruly, yet soft enough for her to run her fingers through it. His eyes were deep-set, cynical, and mysterious. His thick eyebrows were level and shaped. And he had a smooth, clean-shaven face and well-sculpted cheekbones.

The shape of his nose was like that of a ship’s prow, but not TOO prominent. But what drew her attention to him was the way his mouth was shaped. It may very well have been the devil himself who could create such lips. It could tempt any woman for a kiss and his mouth was so sensually formed that Relena was having a tough time trying not to stare.

"The name’s Joshua Mayfield. You are?"

"Annie. Annie Whitman," she replied, remembering to use her alias. Relena felt his large hand enclose hers and all of a sudden she felt an electrical tingle run through her.

Heero couldn’t help but stare at the young woman across the table. Her eyes were a startling color of aquamarine, and in a certain light, they looked like a mixture of gray and green. Her long hair, swept up in a braid, shone like spun gold. Her skin was smooth, tanned. And she had a classic Grecian nose and high cheekbones, giving her a regal bearing.

But it was her lips that captured him. Her lips were full, red. And when she smiled, there was a tiny dimple in her right cheek, as if a fairy had kissed her. For a moment, he wondered how it would feel to kiss her. He shook his head. ‘Mustn’t think like that,’ he scolded himself. He extended a hand and introduced himself, careful not to reveal his real name.

"The name’s Joshua Mayfield. You are?"

The girl grinned. ‘Rather sardonically,’ he thought, bemused.

"Annie. Annie Whitman," the girl replied.

‘So she has a name. It suits her,’ he thought.

"It’s great to meet you, Annie. You’re real cute, you know."

She looked down, but not before he saw her blush. ‘She must have been very flattered,’ Heero thought. ‘Come on! Talk to her!’ a voice yelled.

"Thank you, Mr. Mayfield. You’re not too bad, yourself," she replied, grinning again.

"Please, don’t be too formal with me. Call me Josh," Heero said, smiling.

"Right. Ok…Josh," she rolled her eyes.

Chapter three: HIGH TIDE

Relena had long finished her meal and was having an animated conversation with Josh. He had been raised on the streets all his life, but he had finished schooling by doing odd jobs and lots of overtime.

His parents had died early, leaving him to feed his sickly brother and himself. Unfortunately, his brother had died before he had finished high school.

‘Hmm…Josh seems pretty nice…and he’s got a great personality,’ Relena thought to herself.

‘Don’t forget that he’s absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous!’ A voice added.

"Annie, I was wondering if it would be fine if I could see you again," Josh broke her away from her train of thoughts and Relena immediately nodded.

"Alright. Let’s do this some other time. I had fun," she replied, not tearing her gaze from Josh and his soul-searching eyes.

"Then it’s dinner tomorrow night? I know a really incredible place."

She grinned. "Joshua Mayfield! Are you asking me out?"

He blushed and returned her smile. "Well, yeah…That is, if you’re available."

"Of course. I’ll see you tomorrow. Pick me up at seven. Room number 15, Apartment 152, Main Street. Got that?"

"Yeah. Okay, I’ll see you then…" Heero watched her walk out of the shop.

He had a hard time not staring at her. No woman had smitten him like Annie. She was breathtaking and at the same time, gentle. A dark look suddenly crossed his face.

‘No, she won’t have to find out about me until the right moment,’ he thought. He had been a terrorist for five years now, and had gained the reputation of "Most Wanted Criminal". What would Annie think if she found out?

Little did he know that "Annie" was currently heading to the NYPD station, and he would be found out sooner than he thought.

BACK AT NYPD HEADQUARTERS…

"I knew it was him!" Relena crowed. "I’m so glad I saw the surveillance photos. Now we can catch him, I can get out of this stupid charade, and everyone can rest easy!"

"I wouldn’t be too sure, detective," Trowa frowned. "He’s one sly fox, I can tell you that."

"Yeah, most bombers fall in love with one bomb and they’re very monogamous. This guy uses C-4; C-12, dynamite, different trigger every time. He’s a psycho," Officer Hilde stated.

"Hey, don’t worry about me. I can handle this," Relena scoffed. "Besides, from the way he looked at me awhile ago, I’m sure he’s putty in my hands."

"From the looks of it, I’d say you’re both putty," Duo snorted.

Relena glared. "DUO! Were you SPYING on me? Who gave you the authorization?"

"I did." Everyone whirled around to see Zechs sitting on his desk, sipping some coffee.

Relena rolled her eyes and grabbed another cup of coffee. "It’s no wonder I have vices. If I didn’t have any, you’d force me to develop one, Zechs."

"Well, I was just concerned about you. This guy has looks a woman would kill for."

"And who told you that?" Relena asked, bewildered.

"Dorothy. And in case you didn’t notice, Relena, that’s your FOURTH cup. Careful on the caffeine," came the muffled reply.

"Heh…figures. Man, that girl is nuts. She says that about every man," she laughed, ignoring her brother’s ‘caffeine comment’ and continued to sip her coffee.

"Well, this time, I really MEAN it. I mean, he’s got the most intense eyes."

Relena rolled her eyes heavenward as Dorothy continued. ‘There is no justice.’

"Honey, I’d give anything for a man like that," she exclaimed, making doe eyes and wiggling her…eyebrows.

"Gimme a break. You already have Quatre. And besides, you’d hurt his feelings," Duo laughed.

Quatre sniffed. "Oh yeah, I’ve been wounded."

"Come now, Quatre, honey. I was just kidding," Dorothy smiled.

"Well, you’re forgiven. I can’t refuse a woman like you, you know," he replied, kissing her cheek.

Relena nearly choked on her coffee and stifled a laugh. ‘Jeez! WHAT does he find in HER? Love can really make you do crazy things,’ she thought.

"Relena, what name did he give you?" Noin asked.

"It was Joshua Mayfield. And thankfully, he knows me as ‘Annie Whitman’. He asked me out."

"Good. Then we can find out more about him and we can catch him easy. Good work, sis," Zechs patted her on the back.

"Thanks, bro. And now, if you people don’t mind, I’m gonna go home and soak in the tub," Relena swatted away her brother’s hand and picked up her duffel bag.

MEANWHILE…

"Heero, where have you been?"

"Nowhere, Dr. I just went out to eat," Heero replied.

A wizened old man stepped out. At that moment, anyone would have thought of him as terrifying. He wasn’t completely human, having what looked like half a cyborg body.

"I hope you don’t forget about the mission, young man. We must find a way to get those disks from CyberBiotics."

"Yes, Dr. Mission acknowledged."

Chapter Four: HEAT

Heero woke up with a start. ‘It’s 6:00 p.m. Now what in hell’s name was I supposed to do?’ He scratched his head and then it hit him. Realizing that he had a date, he immediately jumped into the shower.

Five minutes later, he emerged, wrapped in a towel. He shook his head, sending droplets of water flying in all directions and started humming while trying to select his wardrobe for the evening.

Dr. J heard him and smiled. ‘Heero? Humming? He must be really happy about the mission.’ Boy was he wrong about that.

Heero combed down the last strand of hair sticking out and smiled. ‘Annie, you are one hell of a woman.’ Heading downstairs, he called out to Dr. J. "I’ll be gone for a couple of hours, Dr. I have a date."

"Very well, young man. Just as long as you don’t forget your mission."

MEANWHILE…

Relena was rushing through her apartment. "What to wear…what to wear…hmm…AHA! THIS ONE!" she cried, withdrawing a simple sky-blue dress with a plunging neckline and silver trimmings.

She had barely finished putting the last touches of her make-up and putting on her shoes when the doorbell rang. "Hold on! I’ll be right there!" She opened the door and gasped to find ‘Josh’ standing there. He was dressed in a white tux and he had a bouquet of roses in his hands. (A.N: This would make a really good image ~_^)

‘Good Lord, he’s so handsome! If only he weren’t a terrorist, I would… Hey, now! Where in hell did THAT come from?’

Heero could hardly keep from staring at the beautiful woman in front of him. His eyes kept roving over her and he blinked several times. ‘God, if this is a dream, don’t let me wake up just yet!’

She had swept up her hair and she wore minimal make-up that brought out the starry gray of her eyes. The dress seemed to cling to her curves like second skin and he was having a hard time not staring at the neckline of her dress. It was extremely low and he could see the valley of her breasts and…

Heero coughed abruptly and handed her the roses. "These are for you, Annie. You know, I gotta say, you look absolutely…BREATHTAKING…"

Relena blushed and replied, "Thanks. You look pretty damn hunky yourself, Josh."

"Well, shall we go?" Heero held out his arm and she took it. Hand in hand, they walked out of her apartment.

MINUTES LATER…

Relena found herself loosening up with ‘Josh’. He had chosen a restaurant that overlooked the Hudson River. It was built like that of a ship’s deck and the whole setting was very much romantic. Each of the tables were dimly lit by candles and a group of musicians played sweet music.

Heero realized that he was truly enjoying himself with Annie. He wondered briefly if she would understand his secrecy and his being a terrorist. But all the while, he kept looking at her from across the table. The low candlelight seemed to outline her features, casting a seductive glow on her.

He stood up, and offered a hand to her. "Care to dance?" He chuckled at the shocked look on her face. "What’s wrong?"

Relena smiled and replied, "Nothing. It’s just that no one’s ever danced with me before, except my brother. He was my prom date, you know," she continued, accepting his outstretched hand.

"Well, then I consider this an honor to be the second man to dance with you, Annie." Heero led her to the center of the ‘deck’ and started to sway in time to the music. He held her close and suddenly heard her humming to the music.

"Annie?"

"Josh, that was what I sang during my high school play. I was Eponine in ‘Les Miserables’ and I sang that," Relena smiled, leaning her head on his strong shoulder and continued to sing softly.

"On my own, pretending he’s beside me…And all I see is him and me forever and forever…"

"Annie…"

She looked up, into his blue depths, and felt herself slowly drown. Inside, Relena’s thoughts were in turmoil. One part of her was cheering her, saying that he was slowly falling into her trap. Another part of her was telling her that she was wrong to trick him.

"You have the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard."

"Thank you, Josh. You’re very sweet and considerate to say that."

"And such a lovely mouth that shapes your words. A lovely mouth any man would die to kiss…" Heero bent his head lower and brushed his lips against hers, feeling her tremble in his embrace.

At the contact of his lips on hers, Relena felt her legs turn to mush. ‘How can this happen to me? I’m falling for the enemy,’ she desperately thought to herself.

‘To hell with that!’ a voice inside her screamed. ‘Forget what you were supposed to do and KISS HIM BACK!’

"Josh, we have to stop this," she whispered, pulling out of his embrace.

Heero looked at her, confused and disappointed. "Why, Annie?"

"Well…b-because…well…we don’t really know each other," Relena stumbled, looking for the right words.

"Alright, Annie. I understand. Let me drive you home," Heero smiled. ‘All in good time Heero,’

AN HOUR LATER…

Heero was standing in front of Annie’s room, waiting while she fumbled for her keys. Before she went in, she stepped up to him and kissed his cheek. "I had a really good time, Josh. Thank you."

"It was all my pleasure, Annie. But someday, when you least expect it, I may want to tell you how I feel for you," Heero replied, kissing her hand.

"Goodnight, Josh." Relena closed the door of her room, suddenly feeling her heart palpitate faster than whenever she had too much coffee.

"Oh, God! What is wrong with me?" she asked herself aloud. ‘Relena, the basher of all sap and romance, has finally fallen for someone.’

Chapter Five: TENSIONS

"Captain! We have a hostage situation down at 3rd Avenue! Requesting back-up!"

"I read you, Trowa. I’m sending over Officer Hilde and Detective Relena to assist you!"

Zechs immediately put down the radio and summoned the two girls. "Trowa, Quatre, Wufei, and Duo need back-up at 3rd Avenue! There are fifteen people being held hostage. Be careful."

"Right, Captain! We’re on it!" Relena put on her jacket and Hilde gave one final salute before they headed to the patrol car.

"Uh, Hilde…let’s not ride in the patrol car."

"Huh? You mean…we’ll…"

"Yep. Into the Jaguar with you!"

MINUTES LATER…

Relena and Hilde arrived on the scene just in time to see an armed goon pick up a little girl and point a gun at her head. Everyone in the building screamed and the goon went crazy, shooting in the air.

"Y’all SHUT UP or I’ll BLOW her BRAINS out!"

At that, everyone cowered beneath the large tables and Duo cursed inwardly. "Dammit! I can’t SHOOT the fucker! He’s got a KID with him!"

Hilde wiped her brow and strapped on a bulletproof vest. "We have to think of something, guys. We can’t just go in there, now."

Quatre cocked his .45 and reloaded. "Jeez! And how! We need a plan in…" he looked at his watch, "…exactly 30 SECONDS!"

"I think we have to take some hostages out of the equation," Trowa quietly stated, shooting at another goon.

"WHAT? You mean…" Duo’s eyes bugged out and he prayed silently. Uh-oh! He’s not gonna do what I think he’s gonna do, is he?

"We have to shoot the hostage," Trowa continued. But it was obvious that he was bothered as well. Just HOW can you SHOOT a LITTLE GIRL?

Wufei inhaled sharply. "Trowa, I don’t think we can do that! There has to be another way! We can’t jeopardize the lives of innocent civilians, especially children!"

"Well, I can’t wait that long! And I’m not gonna do any hostage-shooting! I’m doing this MY WAY!"

With that, Relena rushed in, dodging the spray of bullets, ignoring her companions’ cries and finally stood in front of the goon.

The little girl he held was crying and a woman screamed, "My baby! Oh God! Please don’t hurt my baby!"

"Mommy! Please help me! I don’t wanna die! Mommy!" Tears streamed down the girl’s face and the goon laughed maniacally.

The little girl screamed again and Relena whipped out her gun, pointing it at the goon. "Let the kid go, you dick! Put your gun down and put your hands on your head."

In the confusion, Relena hardly noticed a young man regard her with interest.

As Heero hid behind a post, he noticed the young woman bravely facing off with the armed goon. Armed only with a .45 Caliber, she squared her shoulders and pointed her gun at the man. She was dressed in street clothes and could have easily hidden in a crowd.

Heero noticed that she was extremely athletic, with toned arms, a slim waist, and strong-looking slender legs encased in jeans. ‘God! There’s something so familiar about her. The hair, those flashing eyes! Annie? Nah! Can’t be her. Annie is gentle, sweet. But this girl looks as if she has the strength to shatter stones in her bare hands.’

Heero shook his head. ‘Still, they have that uncanny resemblance.’

He continued to watch her from his hiding place and as he watched, he couldn’t help but admire the woman who looked just like Annie. She was just as beautiful, but she had a feisty spirit, so UNLIKE Annie.

The loud report of a gun startled him and he snapped to attention. Looking around, he saw the young woman pale and clutch her left shoulder. There was a smell of burning flesh and Heero’s eyes widened as a trickle of blood ran down her arm. ‘Oh God! She’s been SHOT! Gotta do something!’

Relena bit her tongue, trying not to scream from the pain that seared her flesh. She steadied herself and brought up her gun. The man still held the little girl in a vise-like grip, but she was not intimidated. She felt the adrenaline pumping through her veins and aimed…

BANG! BANG!

The goon howled and clutched his arm, releasing the little girl in the process. The little girl ran and hid behind Relena’s legs.

Relena immediately kicked, her boot connecting with his groin and he doubled over in pain. "You mother fucking BITCH! I swear I’ll kill you! I have my rights!"

"Thank you. I’ll take that as a compliment. But right now, the only right you have is the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law," Relena wrestled with the man’s huge wrists and handcuffed him.

She shoved him over to Trowa and Duo, who had the other goons unconscious. Hilde rushed over to her and her eyes widened, seeing the blood seeping out of her shoulder. "God, girl! Do you gotta do that and scare the shit out of us?!"

"Heh…If I hadn’t done that, everyone would’ve gotten killed anyway. At least they’re all safe. Don’t worry, this’ll be fine," Relena chuckled and then winced again as renewed pain shot through her arm. The little girl tugged at her jeans and she looked down. "Miss Lady Cop, I’m really sorry for your wound. I didn’t mean to ~"

Relena shushed the little girl. "Hey, it’s not your fault, honey. These things happen when you’ve got this job. Happens all the time to me. At least you’re safe. That’s what makes me happy. Your mom’s there, give her a hug."

A woman in her early thirties rushed over to Relena. "Oh, ma’am. How can I ever repay you for what you’ve done?"

"It’s nothing. I’m just glad to have helped."

"But your shoulder is ~"

"Like I said earlier, this is just a flesh wound."

Mother and child smiled gratefully at the young detective and Heero was touched. ‘She’s such a brave woman. I have to get to know her.’

Wufei strode up to Relena. "We have to get you to a doctor, detective. It’s time to go. I’ve informed the captain of your heroic efforts."

"Thanks, Fei. Well, ma’am, we’ll be on our way. Hon, you take care of yourself, now, you hear?" Relena ruffled the girl’s red hair.

"Yeah, sure will. By the way, it’s Susie," the little girl smiled.

Chapter Six: WHITE LIES

Heero ran a hand through his hair and stared at the computer screen. He had been working on it for the last three hours, hacking the government files. He was looking for Annie Whitman’s credentials, but he found no matches to his description.

‘Could it be that Annie is really someone else?’ he thought to himself. He grunted and began hacking through the IRS files. Relatively, he was a good hacker, if not, the best. He knew more than a skilled computer programmer did and his mind was extremely keen.

~*~*~

‘Argh! There’s no Annie Whitman here with those features! Just WHO is she?’

Heero was sitting on a bench in Central Park with his laptop on. He was on the verge of frustration when he heard a female voice call him. "Hey there, Josh! Didn’t expect to see you here!"

He looked up to find ‘Annie’ jogging towards him, wearing a gray sweatshirt, navy blue stretch pants, and running shoes. "Annie? You sure are early. You do this regularly?"

"Yep. Figured that this is the best way to stay in shape and besides, I HAVE to be physically fit," Relena answered back, grinning and smoothing down her ponytail.

They were silent for a few moments, staring at each other…their thoughts running riot…she was thinking to herself, ‘Should I tell him? What if he’s guessed that this is just a charade?’

Heero fidgeted a bit and wondered, ‘How would she react if I told her about my doubts and who I really am?’

Relena scuffed the dirt with her shoe and coughed, breaking the silence that hung over them. "So…are you busy?" she asked, looking at Heero’s laptop.

"Huh? Oh no, not really. I was just surfing the Net," Heero replied, turning off his laptop before Relena could see what he was really doing.

"There’s something I have to tell you ~" both said in unison.

"Uh…You first," Heero blushed.

"Well, I was wondering if you would wanna go to my place and talk. There’s something you need to know," Relena played with her hands and looked down at her feet. ‘Argh! I think I was being too forward!’

Go to Chapter 7 <cops7.html>.

"Sure, Annie. I’m for that," Heero smiled. Was it his imagination or did Annie look nervous?

Relena’s head shot up and she stared. "You sure? I mean, okay. Let’s go." She shook her head and walked down the path. ‘I really need to switch to decaf before I get a nervous breakdown.’

~*~*~

Heero sat down on the couch and looked around Relena’s spartan-looking apartment. He had been expecting a lot of frills and laces, but her apartment had simple furniture, the shelves were well arranged, and the kitchen was spotless.

‘Lord! She’d make a good wife!’ He shook his head. ‘No…stop thinking like that.’ He looked up and saw Relena emerge from her bedroom, dressed in a T-shirt, tennis shorts, and sandals. She sat down near the window and faced him.

"We need to talk, Josh…Or should I say, Heero Yuy…"

Heero’s eyes grew cold. Crossing the room, he grabbed her wrists. "How did you find out? Who ARE you, Annie?!"

Relena returned his gaze without flinching and replied flatly, "Let go of me and I’ll tell you who I am, Heero Yuy."

Her aquamarine eyes glittered and she continued, "I’ve been instructed to arrest you… Although, I didn’t know it would be this EASY."

Heero immediately let go of her wrists, but then he thought of doing something to confirm his doubts. He put a hand on her left shoulder. Immediately, Relena winced and a red spot grew on her sleeve.

"I knew it…you’re that cop who rescued the little girl…It was you, Annie…" Heero whispered, hoarsely.

Relena growled and gave him a glare. How did he find out? As if to answer her question, Heero answered, "I was there. I was one of the hostages."

She sneered. "A first-class terrorist has become a hostage? That’s news…" Her voice was filled with sarcasm and Heero smirked. "You still haven’t told me who you are…Annie…"

"I’m not Annie Whitman…I’m Detective Relena Peacecraft and I’m with NYPD. Happy?"

She stood up and Heero grabbed her, pulling her close. "Why the charade?"

"Shouldn’t I be asking you the same question?"

"……" Heero didn’t answer. Instead, he bent his head lower and kissed her.

Relena’s eyes widened briefly and then closed. She had never experienced a kiss as intense as what Heero was giving her and she felt herself weaken in his embrace.

Heero smiled against her lips and pulled away to observe her beautiful face. He ran a hand through her silken hair and touched her slightly parted mouth with one finger.

"I’ll make you a deal, detective. As soon as I finish my mission, I’ll let you arrest me. But I won’t let anyone put the handcuffs on me except YOU."

"Why are you telling me this?" Relena asked, wide-eyed.

Heero’s face softened and he lowered his head again. "Because I’ve fallen in love with you," he whispered, before kissing her again.

He backed her up against the wall, feeling her slender body press close to him. ‘Damn, this feels so GOOD…’ he thought.

‘I can’t believe this is happening to me…why am I feeling this way?’ Relena’s thoughts were a blur as she sifted her fingers through Heero’s soft hair.

She lightly moaned in his mouth and Heero deepened the kiss, his tongue escaping his lips and finding hers. ‘God, I LOVE her…I LOVE her…’

He pulled away and then opened the door to Relena’s bedroom, pulling her inside and kissing her again.

Chapter Seven: UNTAMED HEARTS

Heero woke up in an unfamiliar bedroom. His muscles tensed and he groaned inwardly. Looking at Relena, he smiled and then winced again. ‘Twenty-four hours of continuous sex…Damn, but she can test one’s limits!’

He smiled to himself, remembering the hot night they had…pushing themselves to threatening levels with their intense foreplay…speeding up and slowing down…changing angles as the sounds of their lovemaking reverberated through the room.

A soft moan from Relena jolted him back to the present and he leaned over, crushing her lips against his. Relena snaked her arms around his neck and responded, pressing herself closer to him.

She moaned lightly and then felt him pull away. "Well, Heero Yuy…that’s one way to get me up in the morning…"

Smiling at her, Heero ran a hand through her hair. "I’m good with wake-up calls, detective…Did you sleep well?"

Relena sat up and groaned. She rubbed her neck, trying to ease up her muscle pain. "God, no…I couldn’t sleep well…felt like I slept on a rock or something…"

Heero moved closer to her and ran his hands up her smooth backside to her shoulders. Repeatedly massaging them, he bent down and kissed her neck. "How’s this?" he whispered against her skin.

"Not fair…keep doing it…" Relena smiled, easing under his gentle fingers. "You gotta keep your promise, Yuy. I’ve gotta be the only one to arrest you."

"Don’t worry. I’m a man who always keeps his promise. Never broken one before and I don’t intend on starting now," Heero grinned.

"Fine. Now you can leave." Relena got up and moved away from the bed. She grabbed a large shirt and pulled it over her body.

Heero was in shock. How could this beautiful goddess act like a passionate woman one moment and then like a frozen shade the next?

‘Hmm. It appears I have a lot to learn about women…especially Relena Peacecraft,’ he thought to himself. He reached out to hold her again but Relena grabbed his hand and nearly broke his thumb, causing him to give a tiny yelp. "DON’T…TOUCH…ME," she said, in an icy tone.

"But…"

"Honestly, Yuy, I had a great night. But let’s leave it right there, okay?"

"Alright, Relena…I guess I’ll get dressed now," Heero whispered.

"Fine. Complete your mission Yuy. And don’t forget to stick to our deal, yeah?" Relena reached over to smooth away his stubborn bangs.

"You got it, Peacecraft. But our one hot night is something I’ll never forget."

~*~*~

Two hours later, Heero walked out of Relena’s apartment with the biggest smile plastered on his face. He walked back to an abandoned building and stepped inside, pushing a switch. Instead of lighting up the ceiling, the floor beneath him moved down…into a secret hideout where Dr. J was waiting for him.

~*~*~

As Heero walked out the door, Relena felt herself grin. ‘Damn, but the sex was GREAT! It was even better than Duo’s book of "Kama Sutra".’ She sighed and got dressed and then headed towards NYPHQ. Hilde was in for a BIG surprise.

~*~*~

"WHAT?! YOU SLEPT WITH HI-mmmmpppphhhh!" Hilde’s loud whisper was cut off by Relena’s hand.

"Please Hilde, this is a secret between the two of us," Relena shushed her best friend.

"Fine! Fine! Let’s discuss it at lunch, girlfriend," Hilde replied, blushing pink at everyone’s weird stares. The two rushed out of the office and headed to the café.

MINUTES LATER…

"Okay, okay…you two obviously had the hottest night of your lives…But, the question is, did you enjoy it?" Hilde’s sky-blue eyes bore into Relena, making her feel like a bug under a microscope.

Relena looked uneasy for a while and then blushed. "Dammit…Hilde, I…I d-did…I enjoyed it like SHIT!"

Hilde’s eyes got as round as saucers. "H-HOLY SHITBALLS! By God, girl! You’ve sure gotten yourself into something!" She started giggling and Relena glared daggers at her.

Hilde coughed and sweat-dropped. "H-hey! I didn’t mean it THAT way, girlfriend!"

The German girl hid her smirk behind her coffee cup and Relena stared out the window, already missing Heero’s gentle touch and his scorching kisses. ‘Damn! I’m starting to feel crazy things! Heero Yuy, you’ve gotten under my skin!’

~*~*~

"Heero, you haven’t spoken to me since you got here. What is wrong, my soldier?" Dr. J asked from the control panel.

Heero sat up from his routine push-ups and faced the old man.

"Really, Heero…I’m used to you speaking in five syllables or less…but, today, you haven’t said ANYTHING," Dr. J frowned. At least, it was supposed to be a frown. His robotic features seemed to contort greatly and you didn’t know which was which.

"I’m just tired, Dr. J. But, don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about the mission. In fact, I’m half-way almost there with hacking through their system," Heero answered.

In truth, he was thinking about Relena and her graceful body…her great beauty…their intense moments together. ‘Damn! I miss holding her already!’

Chapter Eight: OPTIONS

"RELENA! IN MY OFFICE! NOW!" Zechs’ baritone rang through the headquarters, making everyone jump and sending papers, folders, and whatnots flying through the air.

It had been unusually quiet that day, and just as everyone was about to relax, the captain had suddenly yelled for his sister, alerting them faster than a double espresso without the sugar and cream.

Duo bent down to gather the files he dropped, grumbling under his breath. "Does he gotta do that? He could’ve at least turned down the volume. Now I gotta alphabetize these freakin’ things all over again."

Trowa grabbed a few paper towels and started wiping the fresh coffee stains on his uniform. He had dropped the hot coffee and spilled it on his uniform when Zechs yelled. It was all he could do to keep from hollering as the hot brew sizzled on his skin.

Dorothy and Quatre, who were trying to fix their busted phone lines, had dropped the telephone, shattering it. Quatre groaned at the scattered pieces and tried his best not to glare at the captain.

‘I know the captain is an excellent police officer, but I just HATE it when he yells like that. It sounds like a goddamn NUCLEAR BLAST!’ the blond youth griped to himself.

Wufei looked down at his lap, on which were the remains of what was once a hero sandwich. He sighed and got a broom to fix the mess, pausing now and then to pat his grumbling stomach.

‘Why did I agree to be transferred here? At least in Hong Kong, they didn’t disrupt the quiet like this. All they did was MEDITATE. Gosh, I’m so darn hungry!’

Relena stifled a giggle as she watched her colleagues clean up their mess. She got up and noticed that Noin seemed oblivious of what was going on. She tapped her on the shoulder. "Uh…Noin? You okay?"

Noin didn’t seem to hear her and said, "What was that, detective? Oh, wait…" She took some things out of her ears and upon closer inspection, Relena sweatdropped. "EARPLUGS?"

Duo overheard and groaned. "Oh, jeez! Why didn’t I think of that before?!"

Noin gave a lopsided grin at the young woman standing slack-jawed in front of her. "Honey, you know I’m totally in love with your brother, but this is one thing I don’t like in him."

Everyone in the room laughed good-naturedly at the two and Relena proceeded inside Zechs’ office. Once inside, she sat down and took the cup of coffee Zechs offered. Sipping the steaming brew, she closed her eyes and let her mind wander for a few moments.

Zechs looked at his sister from his desk and smiled lightly. ‘Damn, she’s all grown up! I can still remember being her prom date, after Tommy Johnson backed out from asking her to be his date.’ He cleared his throat, bringing their awkward silence to a close.

"Relena, I have something for you…"

"HUH?"

"Here. It came in this morning." Zechs slid an envelope over to her and Relena opened it slowly, reading the contents, her eyes widening with each paragraph. "OHMIGOD! H-HOLY SHIT!"

"Relena, you’re not the only one in the room, you know! What the hell does it say?"

"Zechs, I’m finally gonna live out my big dream! The FBI wants me to work with them!"

As the two siblings discussed, they were unaware that all of the NYPD elite force had stopped with their work and had pressed their ears to the door, eager to get some juicy gossip.

Hilde smiled to herself, walking back to her desk. ‘Finally, Relena can live out her big dream and be an FBI agent.’

She couldn’t help but feel a little envious and at the same time, a little sad. After all, Relena was one of the best they had. She was skilled at negotiating, dismantling, target-shooting…you name it...and she seemed like a great loss to the team.

"Uh…Hilde? Can we talk?" Hilde looked up to find Cathrine, Dorothy, and Sally hovering over her desk.

"Why, girls! Is something wrong?" The German girl gestured for them to sit down.

"It’s just that…Relena will be leaving us soon, won’t she?" Cathrine asked, her eyes misting up.

"Well…um…I really don’t know, Cathrine. It is her decision to make and not ours," Hilde swallowed, at a loss for words.

Sally sniffled a bit. "We understand that it’s Relena’s big dream and she wants to fulfill it…though I can’t help but think that she will be greatly missed by all of us…and I know that the FBI aren’t exactly what we think they are."

"Oh, c’mon…Relena’s a big girl…I’m sure she’ll think this over," Dorothy replied, blinking back a tear. It was clear that she didn’t want Relena to leave either.

Back inside Zechs’ office, Relena was grinning like a cat with a huge saucer of cream. "I can hardly believe it, big brother! The FBI! Wow!"

Zechs smiled, happy for his sister and feeling a knot form in his throat. His eyes misted up and Relena stopped smiling. "Zechs? What’s wrong?"

Relena looked puzzled and then it hit her. She would be an FBI agent but that would mean leaving NYPD, her family, friends…"Zechs, don’t worry…I won’t leave just yet…this is a big decision and I think I need some time to think…"

Then silently, she added to herself, ‘I won’t leave without…letting Heero know…not without arresting him…or even telling him how I feel…’

Chapter Nine: THE MISSION

Heero blinked at the glowing screen, scanning the files he had hacked into from CyberBiotics. It wasn’t easy to hack into their system, but he had succeeded. As he read them, he became appalled at what he had discovered.

Dr. J had worked with them for fifty years and had been one of their top designers. His machines were powerful prototypes, designed for the CIA and the Pentagon. He designed powerful weapons that harnessed nuclear energy, and had experimented on creating the perfect soldier through genetic engineering.

He was fired and CyberBiotics kept the disks that held the information on his designs. Also, they had continued with his genetic research, experimenting on unsuspecting civilians.

He found out that they were planning on using children because their bodies would easily adjust and their senses were easier to heighten, bringing them closer to perfection, making them killing machines.

Dr. J had tried to stop them, even trying to bring the plant to a meltdown. He failed and served ten years in jail. When he was free, that was the time his path crossed with Heero’s.

‘No wonder he’s so desperate. CyberBiotics is corrupted and they won’t stop until they’ve succeeded…I think I understand what Dr. J meant when he said that science could create and destroy...’

‘And mankind will forever be damned if they try to be gods...The hour is at hand…and only I can stop them now…Relena…I know she understands.’

Heero’s thoughts swirled through his head, confusing him. He knew that his mission was important, but what he felt for Relena was something scary…at the same time, it was beautiful…something that he knew he would never regret. And he knew that if he failed, he would never see her again.

Heero stood up and typed a few commands and then zipped on his jacket. ‘I need to see her now. This mission is more dangerous than I thought. If I fail, I might jeopardize the lives of millions. I need help.’

He knew what to do. ‘Gotta swallow my pride…gotta go to the NYPD for help…’

~*~*~

"So, you’re saying that the NYPD has to help you with this mission, Heero." It was a statement, direct to the point from Relena.

"Yeah, something like that, I guess."

"Why? I mean, I know how good you are at these things. Why would you need our help?"

"I need help with their mainframes system, disabling the alarm system, distractions ~"

"Okay, okay! I get the picture. But I don’t think my colleagues will understand until you explain everything. Oh, and watch out for my brother."

Heero followed Relena to her car. ‘Her brother? Why would I have to watch out for her brother?’

~*~*~

"WHAT IN HELL’S NAME IS HE DOING HERE?!" Zechs bellowed. Noin sighed. ‘There goes another window…’

‘That’s what we’d all like to know,’ Hilde thought, staring at Heero. He seemed a little uncomfortable with everyone’s curious gazes and he smiled weakly, not knowing if he should explain his reasons for popping up unexpectedly or hang himself on the nearest tree.

Heero grimaced slightly and fidgeted under Zechs’ icy blue gaze. ‘So, that’s Relena’s brother…’ He cleared his throat and everyone reached for their guns, except Relena who looked slightly amused and annoyed. (A.N: Can you imagine this? ~_~)

"Will you guys relax!" She exclaimed, shooting everyone a deadly look.

"Besides, I didn’t come here to tell you that I rigged your office with a C-4 or anything," Heero mumbled, running a hand through his hair, hoping they hadn’t heard him. Unfortunately, they did.

"YOU WHAT?!" Everyone roared, making the whole building tremble. A flurry of curses and swearing followed as the officers dropped to their knees, crawling around, trying to find the bomb. Heero and Relena both sweatdropped.

Relena looked at him incredulously and was about to crawl on her knees when Heero groaned.

"I was just kidding! Why the hell are these people so UPTIGHT about me? You guys definitely HAVE to switch to decaf. It’s a lot safer."

"Because, buddy, YOU happen to be on everyone’s Most Wanted list and WE are here to put a stop to your freaking little bomb game!" Duo yelled, poking a finger at Heero’s chest and straightened up.

Lady Une and Treize both helped up the others, realizing that Heero hadn’t rigged their office.

"Alright, we’re willing to listen to your plan, Yuy. We have to understand why this chain of events has taken place and why you need us," Treize replied, a little of the color returning to his face.

Trowa, Wufei, and Zechs frowned. They were still unsure if they could trust the enemy and they were a bit shaken by Heero’s ‘C-4 crack’ earlier.

Quatre and the others gave him reassuring, yet, uneasy smiles, showing him that they were listening to him.

"Alright. This is what I have to tell you first. I am not the one responsible for all the major bomb attacks here and in other states. CyberBiotics found out that I was collaborating with Dr. J, their former top scientist, and framed me."

Everyone was silent and Heero took this as a good sign and continued.

"I wasn’t always Heero Yuy. Before I became one of CyberBiotics’ experiments, I was Aiden Lowe, Jr. I was planning to go to Harvard to finish Law Enforcement. But they found me, and…and they tried to make me their perfect soldier."

Relena’s eyes glazed over and she bit her lip to keep from crying, never noticing her lower lip bleeding. ‘I’m hearing Heero’s life story. I had no idea…Heero…I-I never knew…’

"They poisoned my mind with their sweet words, saying that if I followed them, they would help my brother get better…Instead, THEY killed him! Chris…only ten at the time…he was just…God! THEY FUCKING KILLED HIM!"

Heero’s voice broke and he started to sob, in front of the stunned enforcers. Relena embraced him, her own tears mingling with his. "Hush now…hush, *mo chroi…It’s all right…" (A.N: * An Irish/Scottish term for "my child" or "my angel")

She held him for the longest moment, rocking him back and forth like a small child, smoothing his tousled hair and he slowly calmed down. Heero’s sobs quieted and he closed his eyes, inhaling Relena’s scent. ‘Lilacs…she smells like lilacs…and roses…so sweet…I could stay like this forever.’

All the enforcers were quiet, watching their tough detective sooth their most wanted criminal. Duo smirked.

‘Oh boy, fate sure has a way with things…I gotta admit, they look pretty damn GOOD together…It’s like an urban version of "Cinderella"…I can see that they love each other…maybe Yuy isn’t what we thought he was…’

Zechs was speechless. ‘This young man…he had so much promise…he would have made a good member to the team…so it was CyberBiotics that framed him…’

Hilde choked slightly. ‘Those bastards have done so much damage to everyone…they will pay!’

The air around them was heavy and silent…the officers were too depressed to say anything and they waited for Heero to continue. And he did.

"After I found out about Chris, I escaped from their lab…and Dr. J found me…he trained me, constantly reminding me to never forget my humanity…He found out that I was CyberBiotics’ first successful experiment…"

"They used Dr. J’s techniques and they heightened my senses, making me ten times stronger, faster, more intelligent than the average human…I didn’t want them to do all of this to me…But I had no choice…I had never felt more helpless in my entire life…"

"Dr. J designed weapons that could readily blast a hole in the world…his experiments were so advanced that CyberBiotics began to see him as a threat…they removed him from his position…had him arrested…and they forced me into becoming their guinea pig…"

"And that is why I am here now…CyberBiotics’ main lab is right here in NYC…If I can end their insanity, I can live a normal life again…and I can save millions of other children from becoming CyberBiotics’ lab rats…Will you help me?"

Heero looked around the eerily quiet room, anxiously waiting for their answer. He was not disappointed. Zechs was the first to speak up.

"Well Yuy, we will help you…This might prove your innocence and it might support you story…You have the full cooperation of the NYPD."

Duo smirked. "Yeah, man! We DO wanna get to the bottom of this…I promise to help you all the way!" Everyone else in the room shouted, "DITTO!" "ME TOO!" "SAME HERE!"

Heero smiled gratefully and clasped Relena’s hand. "Thank you…Dr. J, will be meeting us tomorrow…I assured him that you would understand his plight. Thank you, NYPD…"

MINUTES LATER…

Heero and Relena walked up to her apartment, arm in arm. He gave a sigh of contentment and pulled her close, kissing her passionately…something he had hungered for the entire day. She responded with an equal amount of passion, snaking her arms around his neck and pressed herself closer to him…

After what seemed like an eternity, they pulled away…breathing heavily, feeling their knees weaken. Relena smiled at her lover, seeing the same emotion reflected in his deep blue eyes.

"You know, Heero…you may be the best thing that ever happened to this city…you can give it hope…"

Chapter Ten: THE MENTOR

Dr. J and Heero entered the NYPD headquarters, hearing audible gasps coming from the women officers. It was the first time they had ever seen a human who looked like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Duo and the other males were having a hard time not staring at his robotic arm and the females stifled their screams. Relena looked at Dr. J, like he had been to hell and back, but she quickly replaced it with a bright smile.

The old man gave her a look and smiled knowingly. "Ah…I can see why young Aiden has taken such a liking to you, little girl…those lovely eyes, the beautiful smile…I know you will make him happy, just as he wants so much to give you the world…"

Relena blushed, sensing her colleagues chuckle and send her significant glances. Heero looked down, trying to hide his own happy blush from the enforcers, as Zechs came out of his office to greet them.

~*~*~

"I see that you are all curious about why I look like this…let me tell you, getting this," Dr. J said, clamping his mechanical fingers, "was all too painful…But not as painful as young Aiden’s experience at their hands."

Hilde popped in the videotape that Dr. J had given to her and as it played, everyone gasped at the barbaric scenes that were displayed before their eyes. They saw a younger Heero, strapped to a table, wires attached to his body. A scientist flicked on a switch and Heero screamed, electrical currents shocking him.

Then, they saw him inside a tank with tubes attached to his body. Another scene played, this time the scientists were electrocuting Heero for not cooperating. And another scene flashed, showing Heero’s brainwaves being tested and chemicals were being injected into his body.

It was cut off and they saw another scene, this one more shocking than the others. Heero was being separated from a little boy, who looked like his younger version. It was his brother Chris and he was screaming for Heero. "Aiden! I want my brother! Aiden! Don’t leave me!" Chris was brought to another room and the videotape was cut off again.

Dr. J looked around the silent room. "You know what happened next…Aiden never saw his brother after that…and his anger built inside him, making him the vengeful young man he is now…they manipulated his anger…using it to their advantage, making him their perfect soldier."

"I regret that my past experiments were wrong…they were for evil, but I pursued in my quest for the perfect war machine…I knew that I could manipulate human genes and mutate them, thus heightening the senses. It was because of my past mistakes that so many innocents have been sacrificed."

"I learned that Aiden escaped and I found him and trained him…trying to soften his soul…even so, I knew it wasn’t enough…But this young woman here, changed all that…she entered his heart, making him learn how to live again."

Dr. J sighed, truly regretting what he had done. "This is why we need help from you…I know it’s hard to believe that Aiden isn’t your terrorist, but we have proof…those buildings blown up here and in the other states were all CyberBiotics’ plan…"

"They found out that their first successful experiment was with me and they wanted to get him back…Put your logical two cents in there…Aiden has the most uncanny abilities and they have been able to successfully alter his genes…Why wouldn’t they go after him? That is why I wanted to have him ready for the moment. And it HAS arrived. "

Relena looked over at Heero, whose knuckles were white as he gripped the edges of the table. His lips were set in a hard line and his eyes were an emotionless blue. But she knew that the scars were imprinted in his memory forever.

Tears made their way down her cheeks and she grasped Heero’s hand, her eyes speaking to him in a way where words were not needed. Her eyes showed how she felt in full volume…words weren’t necessary. Heero looked at her, his eyes glazing over. They gazed at each other, their eyes communicating for them.

‘Heero…I promise…I’ll help you through this…’

‘Relena…you…’

‘Heero…I love you too much to let you do this alone…let me help you…’

Zechs looked at his sister and Heero and realized that they were truly in love with each other. ‘If Heero can make my sister happy, then I will gladly help them.’

"You have our word, Dr. J." Everyone gasped and they turned their heads to the captain. "Dr. J, I swear that we’ll help you. Just tell us what to do and we’ll get ready," Zechs stated, eyes narrowing.

"Thank you, captain. Aiden and I need help in breaking into their lab. The laboratory is filled with different alarm systems and security devices. We need someone with computer skills and someone who can dismantle bombs. But it would be best if we go to my laboratory. I can explain everything there."

Dr. J stood up and he gestured for everyone to follow him. Everyone walked out of the office and through a dark alley. They came to a dead end and Heero walked towards an old building and stepped inside along with Relena. He flicked on a switch and everyone gasped as the floor moved beneath them.
