GENTLE HEARTH ~ Gentle Living

GENTLE HEARTH ~ GENTLE LIVING

Welcome to Gentle Hearth. As a home school family we believe the home should be the center of the family life. The home should be a shelter from the harsh world and its ways. It should be a place that our young people enjoy spending time at instead of being lured away by the worldly pursuits. We are learning slowly how to achieve this goal. We have not arrived yet. As I find articles and web sites that are helpful I will put them here.

One of our families favorite things to do is have afternoon tea. I keep it very simple. I boil the water, put out a light snack on the table. The children choose a tea cup and the kind of tea they would like. I pour a little milk into a creamer and place it on the table. I make sure I have plenty of napkins close by. Our tea would not be complete unless we have our classical music playing. Here are a few web sites concerning the art of tea.

Family Celebration and Holidays are so important. As you can imagine, with a
family our size, we have a lot to celebrate and do so often. Even the sun coming out
after days of rain is special. Christian holidays (Holy days) are a very special time in
our family. Not just the food and gifts, but also a time of reflection several times
a year to make sure we are on track for our family goals. Because we strive to
live everyday unto the Lord, holidays are a special time to make sure we are not
in a rut, going through the motions of our beliefs. These holidays are also a time
for our family to just rest!
