HEART HEALERS, Inc. is a California non-profit
organization dedicated to the prevention and eradication
of the sexual abuse of children. Determined to achieve this goal
within our lifetime, we pursue it by several means.
Public awareness and the raising of human
consciousness, as well as the human conscience, is one
method of choice.
We provide entertainment venues of excellent
quality that feature well-known performers, putting a positive
spin on this most difficult issue while at the same time affording
a platform to disseminate information with focus on the medical,
legal, and academic issues involved in this epidemic of abuse
that continues to prey upon the children and our future.
The funds we solicit and collect at these
entertainment events are then directed and distributed to those
organizations directly affecting the needs and concerns of abused
children - those providing safety and shelter for abused children
or actively involved in protecting their rights and interests.
We refer prosecutorial, medical, sheltering
and counseling issues to the appropriate organizations and individuals
who are well-equipped to provide such necessary assistance.
Our primary focus shall always be direct assistance
to the children. We support and encourage the efforts of such
organizations as the California Coalition and the YMCA who are
disseminating coloring books and publications to children in
an effort to "gently educate" and protect them. The
materials provided give children the understanding of how to
honor their own "personal space" while affording that
same respect to others. Children are encouraged to feel safe
and comfortable in reporting any form of abuse.
"Long term effects of child abuse include
fear, anxiety, depression, anger, hostility, inappropriate sexual
behavior, poor self esteem, tendency toward substance abuse and
difficulty with close relationships." (Cite: Brown and Finkelhor,
1986)
"It is estimated that there are 60,000,000
adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in America today."
(Cite: Forward, 1993)
The current number of victims and the degree
of abuse being sustained by our children as we turn into this
new millenium is staggering. We must push the envelope and come
out of our denial. Make no mistake. It is a war.
You can join the fight. Please use our navigation
buttons (or text links below) to find out how you can join us
or contribute to this ongoing struggle. Perhaps you would like
to attend one of our entertainment events. The public is always
welcome. We encourage your feedback. Feel free to email us or
to sign our guestbook.
And thank you, so very much, for your time
and concern.
Please do take just a moment to meet some of the
"artist angels" who have been so very gracious to share
their talent and make a difference....for the kids. |
