Submission wrestling is an art that dates back to ancient Greece. It is like wrestling except that the goal is to place one of your opponent's limb's in danger of breaking or choking him until he gives up. It is similar to Jujitsu, Sambo, and Judo. I began learning from a Jujitsu student, and picked up submission techniques from a Sambo stylist, positioning tips from a Judo school, watched tapes, and read books on the subject. Currently I am training with a great group of wrestlers here at school. I believe that since coming to Norwich, my skill level has improved dramatically. I have begun competing in tournaments mostly with the North American Grappling Association (NAGA). I have been competing in the Middleweight Division. I won third place in the Vermont Opens and Second Place in the Northeast Opens.

One of the most important events in my life was going up to the Universal Submission Academy in San Jose, California. There I met and was taught by Frank Shamrock, Five-time Ultimate Fighting Championship's World Middle-weight Champion. Frank is probably my favorite fighter, a great teacher, and a heck of a nice guy.

This is me punching Jeremy Yates from full mount position.

Jeremy has avoided my takedown.

Victory is so sweet. I perform a cross-body armbar on Jason Yates.

My favorite: Frank Shamrock takes the Middleweight title by force.

Fastest hands ever! Vitor Belfort, another favorite.

Marco Ruas can do everything. Punch, kick, wrestle, and submit his opponents.

More Pictures to come!
