This is a love story,
of the internet,
and where it led me.

I grew up
during the supposed good times.
Things were easy,
and I didn't have to think
about career or college.
Everything was wonderful
and there was no need to get
serious about anything.
That was my attitude
through most of my life.
I started using drugs
and alcohol to feel good
and to escape responsibilities
at an age which most
people were trying to quit.

After years of abuse
to my mind and body,
I found myself unemployable
and out on the streets with no
real friends or direction in life.

I "lived" on the streets and the beach of Monterey California, from 1990 till 1997, with a lot of bitterness and negativity.

To make a long story short,
I asked for help,
and received just that.
It took over a year
of sobriety to start
thinking clear, for the first
time in many years. I started working
at the rehab center that saved me,
and felt for the first time
in many years, a reason to live.

I had never been interested in
technology or computers, but after
being "forced" to use a computer at
the employment office, and my interest
in the Art Bell show, became interested
in the internet. I saw an ad for Webtv,
and bought myself one for my birthday.

I decided with'in the first few
days, this was best investment
I had ever made.

Not only could I get
e-mail and websites
I was interested in,
I also started writing people from
all over the world, thru
Penpals.com
