Youngstown
New Talent

Manners 101 must be a required course for Ohio boy bands because, like Cincinnati's 98 Degrees, Youngstown pride themselves on being polite. To a fault. For instance, member James Dallas, 25, feels that when you dine out, "if you don't get your meal the way you want it, you should just eat it anyway, because you don't want to cause a big mess." Well, niceness must count for something. Without the benefit of mainstream radio ariply or MTV exposure, Youngstown's first single, "I'll Be Your Everything" (its was featured on their debut CD, Let's Roll, and also the theme from Inspector Gadget) still managed to sell 300,000 copies. Don't expect them to remain underground for long, though; this month, they costar in one of those oft-repeated Disney Channel concert specials that practically comes with a built-in fan following. Not that they don't already have one-Dallas says a devotee dived out of her parents' car when she spotted them recently. "She was like, 'Thank you for being so nice,'" he says. "And I'm like, 'Gee, thank you for noticing us."
