Two up-and-coming pop groups, Hollywood Records' Youngstown and Jive Records' Steps, will perform in Disney Channel's music special, "Youngstown and Steps In Concert." The special premieres February 19, 2000, 7:30PM ET/PT and tapes in November 1999 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. "Youngstown and Steps In Concert" will allow fans to catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of these rising pop groups, while performing in their first nationally televised concert special.
"Disney Channel has a track record for showcasing some of the hottest rising bands in the business for our 'In Concert' music specials, and both Youngstown and Steps certainly fall into that category," said Tina Treadwell, executive director, talent development and music specials. "We are excited to have them join our 'In Concert' franchise." Disney Channel has built a reputation for highlighting today's most prolific artists with its "In Concert" music specials featuring Backstreet Boys; Le Ann Rimes; B*Witched; Five; 'N Sync; Ray J and his sister Brandy; and a special "Holidays In Concert" featuring Shawn Colvin, Tatyana Ali and 'N Sync. Most recently, Disney Channel teamed "Queen of Teen" Britney Spears and pop idol Joey McIntyre for "Britney Spears and Joey McIntyre In Concert," set to debut Saturday, October 16, 7:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.
The male vocal trio Youngstown is comprised of James Dallas, David "DC" Yeager and Sam Lopez, who call Youngstown, Ohio home. They have worked together through countless hours of songwriting and harmonizing to create the eclectic music showcased in their brand new Hollywood Records debut album "Let's Roll." The album features a variety of musical styles from pop/R&B ballads and raps to rock, and includes their premiere hit single, "I'll Be Your Everything," which was featured in the Walt Disney Pictures movie Inspector Gadget.
