Backstreet Boys Know 'Jack'
(1/4/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Jennifer Love Hewitt , LFO , Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough, Backstreet mom Denise McLean, Youngstown and more were on hand at Trans Continental Records' New Year's Eve bash at Planet Hollywood in Orlando, Florida on Friday (Dec. 31). They were just a few of the lucky people who got the first look at the Trans Continental Pictures film Jack of All Trades due out in the middle of this year.
LAUNCH spoke to KC & The Sunshine Band leader K.C., who told us about the film produced by Trans Continental Entertainment founder and N-Sync manager Louis Pearlman. "I just did a cameo in movie called Jack Of All Trades with members of N-Sync [and] Britney Spears . I play a co-pilot and Kenny Rogers is the pilot of the plane. The label I'm signing with is Lou Pearlman, who owns the Backstreet Boys and N-Sync and all those people, and it's through his company; they just said, 'We want you in the movie. We want you to just do a cameo in the movie. Cause the movie's bringing a lot of different people in for cameos.'"
LAUNCH also spoke to up-and-coming Universal Records recording artist Phoenix Stone, who plays himself in the movie. "It's was quite a stretch," Stone tells us about his cameo role. He performs in the film at a beach party concert, and his song "Still Be Loving You" will also be featured on the soundtrack for the film. "The cast of actors is like every famous person,"" he explained. "I mean there's tons of people. Antonio Sabato Jr., Paul Sorvino, Hunter Tylo, and it just goes on and on -- it's amazing. I was on the set other days, not just the day I was doing my thing. There's a lot of action in the movie, it's really funny. It's got a lot to offer, I think, it's going to be really cool."
Stone also informed us about the plot of the film, which revolves around "Jack Taylor" played by Tony DeCamillas, who gets embroiled in a scheme involving seduction and insider trading. "The plot is of a young guy who is involved with all of these different ladies, and then there's like a bad guy, semi-gangster-ish, who is Paul Sorvino. He's kind of after them. He's friends with Antonio Sabato and they start a business together. And you have to wait and see what the business is, and it's just like the twist of events of all these things."
Jack of All Trades also features cameo's from actress Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World); comedian Gilbert Gottfried; N-Sync's Justin Timberlake as a valet parker at a country club; Zachery Ty Bryan (Home Improvement) as a lunchroom bully; Jessica Wesson (Flipper, Casper); Ellen Dow the rapping old lady from the film The Wedding Singer ; WWF star The Rock; and Robert "Kool" Bell from Kool & The Gang .
Much if not all of the Trans-Con musical family is highlighted in the film. Established acts such as LFO , N-Sync and C Note appear, in addition to newcomers such as Take 5 , Innosense, and Mista Brizz appear in various cameo roles in the film.
