This one is especially geared for those attending the "Through Your Eyes" Tour and is dedicated to those who came during the Southland Mall one. A couple of tips and pointers for you all. (If you would like to add your own from your own personal experience, you can e-mail it to me.) Enjoy!
Before You Leave:
1. Make sure you have film in your camera and new or working batteries.
2. Don’t expect too much!
3. Always try to leave at least 2 hrs before the concert starts to make sure you don’t run into any traffic. Traffic is inevitable especially around 4.
4. Bring something to do, you might be waiting in line for the autograph signing for a while.
5. Dress comfortable. No matter how nice you want to look for them, you're gonna have to realize you're probably gonna be only able to sit down for a total of two minutes.
6. Get real pumped up but don’t tire yourself, you’ll need all the energy.
7. Eat your food before or after the concert because once you get there you're not gonna want to leave.
8. Don't bring too many personal belongings with you because once you get there, trust me, you're gonna forget all about that $100 watch in your right pocket.
9. If it is on a school day, I'm not promoting cutting but, be there EARLY. The mall fills us pretty fast even thought it's Monday. If you don't want to cut, leave school right away, and I mean RIGHT AWAY.
10. Do your make-up and everything in the car. Although I don't recommend it, it's a must especially if your concert is after school.
11. Bring a camera with ZOOM. You'll never know when you're gonna need that special zoom to focus on Sammy's tongue ring.
12. Remember this concert is absolutely FREE, so it isn't necessary to bring a whole buttloada moola.
Once you're inside:
1. Make sure you always have a sharpie pen and a picture of them, paper’s fine, cuz you never know when they're gonna suddenly appear.
2. Always have your camera on and ready to go. You never know when Sammy could smile in your camera and you were too late to catch it because your camera was in your bag.
3. Make sure you use the potty before the concert starts to avoid those little in betweenies. You don't want to leave the area because it is very easy for someone to take your spot especially because everyone will be standing up.
4. Prepare your ears for the really loud music.
5. Never, and I mean never, stand right in front of the speakers. Your ears will be ringing like there's no tomorrow.
6. Buy your merchandise right when you get inside! You don't want them all to run out! (The Sam Goody pack costs approximately $17.)
7. Make sure you have all your belongings and keep a very good eye on it.
Once it starts:
1. Despite what everybody says, it is better to stay further back than why up close. Let me explain why:
The Autograph Signing:
1. Be patient!! They'll get around to you eventually. Pushing and shoving will only cause delays and will cause the autograph signings to become shorter.
2. Be calm! Everyone gets pretty panic-y and the usual "Ohmigosh, DC is right there!" will kick in but say it to yourself quietly. I'm sure none of the guys from Youngstown would appreciate any more loud shrills echoing through their ears.
3. Be polite and considerate! Listen to what the security guard and the hosts in the front are telling you. It will be much faster if you listen to them instead of pushing and shoving.
4. Don't save places in line or cut. It is VERY RUDE.
5. Be optimistic! Just because you're in the very back of the line, don't give up hope. Sometimes, although not always, if Youngstown agrees to stay longer, they will give priorities to those who actually waited after they told everyone "I doubt you can get to them."
6. Please, please, please don't even ask about asking Street Team members to "hook you up." We do know a lot of information and you can ask us any questions about Youngstown because we probably will know. We do PROMOTIONS for goodness sakes, we don't MANAGE THEM.
Respect and consideration are at the utmost importance when attending any kind of concerts. If you do not cooperate you are only making it harder for yourself and those around you. Show you love for Youngstown, bring your posters, bring your friends, but leave home your attitude and your rudeness and instead take your manners. Remember Youngstown are people like you and me too, so don't scream in their ears. They're not deaf, they can hear you. Show Youngstown your respect and love by giving everyone else the same courtesy. And most of all, don't forget to have fun!
