From this moment on....

That moment was May 8, 1999. On that day I first met Karl and by the time I had known him a week, my life changed forever.

I'm a bit of a rogue I guess, a black sheep. I'm 51 years old, mother of two grown sons, but my taste run to science fiction, role-playing games especially AD&D and console games, like Sony PlayStation's Final Fantasy Tactics, Resident Evil II and others.

It was this slightly out of kilter mind that led me to a NewsGroup about Star Trek Role-Playing. That NG led me to the Seventh Fleet, a play by e-mail game based in the Star Trek universe. I joined, creating quite a ruckus I think when they found out how old I am.

That Saturday, May 8,1999, I was playing with ICQ, when I was invited into a chat with commanding officer of the fleet sim I was joining. It was there I first met, Karl. Of course then, he was just a guy whose nickname was FleetAdmiral. He wasn't there long, just long enough to pique my interest. Why? The way he talked, (typed). He seemed older, and he asked about my nickname "Sylvelle" I told him she was a goddess of nature in a scenario I was playing with my nephew. I remember thinking when he left, that I'd like to talk to him more.

We chatted again the following day, again with the fleet CO.

On the 11th of May he messaged me requesting a chat. His reason? "I always wanted to talk to a goddess." Corny? Maybe, but I agreed to the chat and we have talked every night since then. Well almost every night.

You see, Karl is also a fan of Star Wars and on the 16th he and his friends left for 3 days to see the premiere at the midnight showing on the 19th. He was gone 3 days.

During those three days I thought of little else but him. I rationalized. The age difference bothered me alot. But in the end I couldn't deny what I felt.

The feelings have grown daily. He has become the most important person in my life and I look forward to my time with him.

You're still the one.
