Jax was wide awake in his bedroom at the penthouse. They'd been up late that night, sitting around the television, watching a late night movie, and enjoying Alexis' famous microwave popcorn. Neither of them had wanted to go to bed after the movie was over but when they found themselves falling asleep with Alexis' head on Jax's shoulder, they decided it was time to go to bed. They were just too comfortable with each other these days. It scared them but they both wouldn't admit it. Jax rolled over again, trying his best to relax. He was perfectly comfortable falling asleep with Alexis on the couch, but one hour back in his bed and he thought he'd start his new day without ever having his eyes close.

It was about 4:20am and he was going to give up. 'I'll go for a run' he thought to himself. "If that doesn't tire me out, I don't know what will." he said aloud to noone, as he threw on his jogging outfit. He made his way out into the hall and passed by Alexis' room. 'She's probably sleeping like an angel' he thought to himself knowing in his heart that she couldn't be as conflicted as he was starting to think he was. 'She has Ned' he thought, so why did that sadden him sometimes. He had paused by the door in his thoughts and was surprised to hear what sounded like a scream. "Alexis he said softly." She didn't answer. He couldn't wait any longer. He had to see if she was okay. He opened the door without knocking and was surprised at what he saw.

His friend, his best friend, the overly confident, always on top of things, Alexis sitting up against the headboard, holding her knees to her chest crying and rocking. He didn't know if she was asleep or awake. "Alexis" he said softly trying not to scare her. She didn't respond, she only stared in wide eyed fear at some unknown force of evil surrounding her.

He felt helpless. He didn't know what to do. He'd never seen her this way before. "Don't hurt her." Alexis started to say over and over again. "Please don't hurt her."

"I won't let them hurt her or you, okay Alexis." He gathered Alexis in his arms and tried to soothe her.

She relaxed slightly but she kept on saying. "Don't hurt her, please, please."

"I promise you, I won't let them hurt you Alexis, I promise." He knew in his heart this was about her family. Some unknown wrong they had done her, someway they had hurt her. He wanted to hunt them all down and kill him for making his wife have dreams this bad. Dreams that he couldn't wake her up from no matter how hard he tried, cause they were real.

He relaxed his grip on her, thinking she had drifted back off to sleep. When he looked into her eyes, they still held the same fear. He grabbed ahold of her tightly again trying to ward off the oncoming terror.

"MOTHER" she screamed, with a blood curdling yell that sounded as if her whole world had dashed apart. "Mother, wake up." she said over and over again.

He continued to soothe her figuring out what her terror was coming from. How had her mother died? She had told him Helena had killed her and had mentioned about her mother's throat being slit when she was five years old. Had she seen it? She hadn't mentioned that. Was it possible that she didn't remember. Jax made a promise then and there to talk to Luke. He may know the whole story. He didn't trust Stefan one bit, or he'd go to him, but after walking in on him threatening Alexis all those months ago, if it was up to Jax she'd never be alone with him again. He covered Alexis back up. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was even. "I won't leave you Alexis." He was talking about this moment they were in, but he knew in his heart that he meant more. She meant more to him than he could admit.

An hour later she awoke with a start. "Jax what are you doing in here?"
