Jaxis' Pre-Wedding Scenes
Some of the most important parts of Jaxis's Pre-Wedding conversations.
***************************
September 24, 1998 ---- (at the PCPD) Jax: Ms. Davis. This is a nice surprise. May I assume you're the one who's arranged for my bail? -- Alexis: Ned Ashton. I'm just the intermediary. ---- Jax: Ned must like me more than I thought. -- Alexis: He told me to tell you.. -- Jax: That he did it for Brenda. I know. -- Alexis: Actually, he told me to tell you that he's sorry that any of this even happened. ---- Jax: Ned hired you to get me released. Now that you have, are you still my lawyer ? -- Alexis: If you want me. -- Jax: I need to know you're working for me -- not Ned. -- Alexis: If you're my client, Mr. Jacks, I'm working for you. --Jax: Well, in that case, I'd appreciate it if you would handle the media. -- Alexis: Would you like me to issue a statement?-- Jax: No comment. -- Alexis: Not even that you're sure you'll be vindicated?-- Jax: I'm not sure, Ms. Davis, and neither are you. -- Alexis: You just hired yourself an excellent attorney, Mr. Jacks. I would say that your chances are improving all the time.

***************************************************************

September 29, 1998 ---- (Jax barely gets back from Malibu in time to here the deal the FBI has for him) -- Alexis: (under her breath) Cut it close enough? Jax: That's how I operate. Think you can keep up? -- Alexis: We'll see. ---- (Later she goes into lawyer mode with the FBI) --Alexis: Be that as it may, what you're essentially saying, Agent Rice, is that you have no evidence against my client which goes to false arrest, impuning the very hard fought, very valuable reputation of my client. In fact, I think, if pressed, we could put a price tag value on the damage that the US government has done To that reputation in the international business community. You have arrested my client on charges of rackateering. Now, prove it. ---- (after the FBI leaves and Alexis has tried to convince him to take the offer they have made) Jax: If you see Ned before I do, be sure to thank him for the bail... and for sending you my direction. -- Alexis: I know what it's like to rebuild a reputation. Can I buy you lunch? ( He has to go see Jerry)

***************************************************************

October 2, 1998 ---- (the FBI and Jax make a deal, Alexis doesn't like it) --Alexis: Would you like to make a counteroffer? -- Agent Rice: Mr. Jacks pleads guilty to one count of conspiracy. -- Alexis: That is out of the question. He is completely innocent of any wrongdoing. -- Agent Rice: All I want is the plea. He won't do any time. -- Alexis: You're concened about the perception of being bought off, and it doesn't bother you at all that you would be ruining the reputation of an innocent man? ----- Jax: Wait. I'll do it. Alexis: I'd like a moment alone with my client, please. -- Agent Rice: Take all the time you want. --Alexis: Are you out of your mind? Alexis: I can't let you do this. -- Jax: I'm not asking for permission. -- Alexis: Well, at least take a second to think about it before you ruin your entire life. ---- Alexis: If you plead guilty, it will ruin you forever in business, and you will not have a penny to your name. -- Jax: A month ago, I might've cared. -- Alexis: And what about your reputation? People will think you're no better than Sonny Corinthos or Jason Morgan. -- Jax: I don't give a damn what people think. The bottom line is if I don't plead guilty, my father and my brother will go to jail for twenty years minimum. They're my family. I've made up my mind. ---- Alexis: We'll accept the deal, with one caveat. Instead of guilty, Mr. Jacks will plead no contest. ---- Jax: Would you let your brother go to prison if it was in your power to prevent it? -- ( Alexis realizes she's fighting a loosing battle and starts to understand him, she looks sad.) -- Jax: Cheer up, counselor. Is there a happier man than a man with nothing to lose? ---- Alexis: I really hope your family appreciates what you're doing. However, in my experience, appreciation isn't necessarily what families do best. -- Jax: Well, speaking of appreciation, be sure to send me your bill. Not that I'll know how to pay it, but don't let that stop you. --Alexis: I'm in no hurry. Good luck.

***************************************************************

October 10, 1998 ---- Alexis: Jax has the profile of a successful gambler. He knows how to read people and situations. He has the nerve to wait for the right opportunity. And the stomach to play for high stakes when it happens.

***************************************************************

November 25, 1998 ---- Jax: I'm sorry about my boorish displays of affluence, but it's been awhile since I've been among the nouveau riche. -- Alexis: Is that why you kept reintroducing yourself to all the deceased presidents? Hello Mr. Cleveland, remember me? -- Jax: Oh yes. I'm just trying to get organized, Alexis. That's all.

***************************************************************

December 10, 1998 ---- Alexis: It's not good to be so needy this early in our relationship. Next time, count to ten. -- Jax: Well then, to save face, I have no choice but to leave for Singapore on business. -- Alexis: Singapore's a long way. I insist you take a plane. In fact, I know a shortcut to the airport that will cut out a half-hour in heavy traffic. Jax: I see. And what will I do with this half-hour you're going to save me? -- Alexis: Discover the wonder and the glory that is me! (pause) That is I? -- Alexis: Do you not ache? -- Jax: Ache? -- Alexis: At the sheer industrial strength and beauty? -- Jax: Ahhh... -- Alexis: The unparalleled gorgeousness. -- Jax: Well, yes. -- Alexis: The pristine, sanitary glamour. -- Jax: Oh, I could kiss it. -- Alexis: You could eat off it. -- Jax: Wouldn't hesitate. -- Alexis: But ... It's too much. -- Jax: It is? -- Alexis: It's haunting. -- Jax: Why? -- Alexis: Where are all the people? -- Jax: Elsewhere. -- Alexis: It's so lonely and deserted... -- Jax: Well, now that you mention it... -- Alexis: It could be the day they dropped the bomb. -- Jax: Gruesome thought. -- Alexis: And this beautiful, matchless, pristine port will stay that way for another 18 months. (pause) For want of a sprocket. -- Jax: For want of my sprockets. Acme Sprockets. -- Alexis: Oh, please, that name! That makes you Wyle E. Coyote. -- Jax: Oh, that must make you the Roadrunner then. -- Alexis: Who always triumphs. -- Jax: Then make that sound. Go on, make the sound. I wouldn't even consider parting with Acme Sprockets until I hear it. -- Alexis: No. -- Jax: Go on. -- Alexis: Meebeep. ---- In real life, the coyote eats them. -- Alexis: I see. Don't eat me. .---- I'm a sprocket virgin. -- Jax: There's not many of those left. -- Alexis: I have no idea what a sprocket is. -- Jax: Do you ride a bicycle? -- Alexis: Not if I can find a man in a Ferrari to drive me instead.

***************************************************************

January 4, 1999 ---- (on the docks)Jax: Oh. So how did your New Year's Eve date with AJ Quatermaine work out? -- Alexis: It could have been worse. I could have ended up with Edward. -- Alexis: We had an interesting conversation. AJ thinks that the weak should inherit the Earth. -- Jax: Oh yeah, well that's AJ. He's always close but never quite there. It's not the weak, it's the meek. -- Alexis: Is there a difference? -- Jax: One means patience, or sometimes to be under the protection of the law, and the other is a one word description of AJ. -- Alexis: Patience...Hm. -- Jax: That's an unusual key. Does it open something? Perhaps one of those strange doors at Wyndemere? -- Alexis: Well, you never know. Listen, it's late. I should really get going. -- Jax: Oh Alexis, Happy New Year and, uh, thanks for your help last year. -- Alexis: It was my pleasure. Happy New Year to you. -- Alexis: Now that you're a player again, do you still specialize in hostile takeovers? -- Jax: There's nothing I like better. Why? You know something I should? -- Alexis: There may be an empire ripe for raiding soon. -- Jax: Wouldn't happen to be Cassadine Industries, would it? -- Alexis: Let's just say that I have a better understanding of what you went through last year.

***************************************************************

January 28, 1999 ---- Alexis: Thank you. Are we alone? -- Jax: Last time I checked. -- Alexis: It was a question. If I didn't trust you I wouldn't be here. ---- Alexis: I came here in good faith. If you have a problem, Jax, why don't you tell me what it is? -- Jax: You're making this too easy. --Alexis: And that bothers you? -- Jax: Yeah. When things come too easy, I start asking questions until I get answers. I don't trust, period. ---- Alexis: I'm no one's messenger. Going after Cassadine Industries was entirely my idea. -- Jax: Why not offer the deal to Ned? -- Alexis: You're the expert in hostile takeovers. -- Jax: Well, thanks very much for the compliment, but Ned's qualified. He could get the job done. -- Alexis: Ned has too many partners, and secrecy is crucial. You don't answer to anyone, do you? ---- Jax: I thought Nikolas was the rightful heir. Alexis: All I can tell you is that his inheritance is in question. -- Jax: When did you find this out? -- Alexis: Recently. -- Jax: What about the rest of the family? -- Alexis: Nothing has been made official. -- Jax: Yeah, but when it is, it will be total chaos? -- Alexis: It will be endless, ugly and possibly violent. -- Jax: Seems like this hit you pretty hard. -- Alexis: I'm angry. I wish I were a better person. -- Jax: And will it bother you taking away money from Nikolas? -- Alexis: Nikolas will still be very wealthy. -- Jax: And now so will you.

***************************************************************

February 1, 1999 ---- (Sonny has just asked Alexis after asking her to take Jason's case for the first time in the Grille, He threw the Tony Jones trial in her face and left her upset. She walks up to Jax at that bar) --Alexis: Call me later. I have some interesting information about our mutual project. -- Jax: Congratulations. -- Sonny: Are we having a conversation? -- Jax: It's hard to upset Alexis Davis. Then again, that's the usual effect you have on women, isn't it? -- Sonny: At least I leave them standing, Jasper Jacks. -- Jax: Well, you do leave them, no argument there.

***************************************************************

February 4, 1999 ---- Alexis: (to Luke) Odds are you'll screw up, someone will fall to their death and I'll get blamed. Please don't surprise me anymore. -- Jax: What fun is life without a few surprises? -- Luke: G'day mate. Is this your seat? -- Alexis: Luke's in transit. Right? -- Luke: Right. I'm also in a rush. No time to dawdle. Somthing about my metabolism. The old engine sorta dies fast. Look, I offered you a dream of a deal. Now you can take it or leave it but I'm going through with it with or without you. Are you in or out? -- Jax: You know, that was phrased as a question, but it sounded an awful lot like a threat. -- Luke: Chill Lancelot. Alexis knows the difference between a threat and a challenge. You read me loud and clear, don't you princess? Well, regards to all the walking dead on Spoon Island. Ciao. -- Jax: You know the next time you want to team up with a silent partner you may want to find someone a little more quiet. ---- Jax: Seems this relationship has hit a crisis. -- Alexis: Do you want to break up? -- Jax: That depends on how intent you are on denying the obvious. Everybody knows that dismantling the Cassadines is Spencer's mission in life. And here we are, preparing to do just that, and Luke's circling around. Coincidence? I don't think so. -- Alexis: Would you believe karmic convergence? Luke's the one who informed me that Nikolas was not the heir, which does not make him my partner. Does that answer your question? -- Jax: What inspired Luke to share this tantalizing tidbit with you? ---- Jax: If you can form an alliance with Luke Spencer... -- Alexis: What makes you think I have an aliance with Luke? -- Jax: Than you can certainly work with Jerry Jacks.

***************************************************************

February 5, 1999 -- Alexis: It wasn't that long ago when you and I and Federal Agent Rice sat at a table, and you didn't trust him as far as you could throw him. -- Jax: And it wasn't that long ago when you were singing your brother's praises on the evening news, defending him for the murder of a woman who wasn't dead. So your point would be? ---- (Jerry tells them about his working for Stefan) Jax: Who else knows what you just told us? -- Jerry: Luke Spencer. I don't know how he found out. And Bobbie. I tell her everything. Well, I can't afford not to. -- Stefan hired me to do a job, and I did it. The total Cassadine assets -- well, it's safe to say even I can't count that high. Stefan said he thought that 200 million would hardly be missed, and he was right. Was Stefan embezzling from himself, from his nephew? I didn't ask. And it didn't occur to me that the money didn't even belong to him. -- Alexis: No, I think it's safe to say that it occurred to him. -- Jerry: He used me to cheat you. I'm inviting you to use me to undo the damage. -- Alexis: Well, why didn't you just say so in the first place? I'd obviously be a fool to refuse. (Alexis takes out her phone) -- Jerry: Who are you calling? -- Alexis: That's my business. -- Jerry: If you're about to react as a lawyer, think again. You tell the police and the Feds and I'll deny everything. What Stefan did may have been illegal and you take him down, you take me to. Been there, done that, told them to burn my prison overalls. -- Alexis: Mrs. Lansbury, It's Alexis. Is my bro --, He's at the hospital. Thank you. -- Jax: Alexis, you need to think very carefully. -- Alexis: Do I strike you as a careless woman? -- Jax: We all make mistakes when we're angry. You can't let on to Stefan that you know about the 200 million. At least not yet. It will tip him that you're working with Jerry and me, and any advantage we had would be lost. It's information we can use, but not flaunt. -- Alexis: I'll tell him that Luke told me. -- Jerry: Luke knows he didn't. -- Alexis: Well, I'll play dumb and let him tell me. -- Jax: Don't you think he would have if he was going to? -- Jerry: It may be unwise to think that Luke is on your side. -- Jax: Or on anyone's side but Luke's. You said so yourself. -- (Alexis picks up the phone again) Alexis: Voice mail, how nice. I was hoping I wouldn't have to talk to you. Actually, I was hoping you're dead and your body had been eaten by vultures. (Jerry and Jax look impressed) But if not, meet me at General Hospital. Wait for me at the nurse's station, right down from administration. ---- Jax: Alexis, people will take what they can get. It's the nature of the beast -- it doesn't mean your brother cares about you any less. -- Alexis: Yes, I'm certain he just wanted to put something aside for a rainy day. I'm going to be that rainy day. (Jax and Jerry toast the air as if toasting her as she leaves)

***************************************************************

February 10, 1999 ---- (at Kelly's) Jax: Spencer giving you a hard time? -- Alexis: He's old business. What's going on with you? -- (about who will become trustee) Jax: In the past, I'd consider giving it a shot. But since I pleaded Nolo Contendere to racketeering, I'm no longer eligible. -- Alexis: I told you that would come back to haunt you. -- Jax: And I told you that I'll rebuild in spite of it.

***************************************************************

February 12, 1999 -- Alexis: (to Sonny) I don't even specialize in constitutional law. But I distinctly remember -- I do -- telling you that I never wanted to see your face again. -- Jax: Then would you settle for his back?

***************************************************************

February 16, 1999 -- (the car accident after her encounter with Stefan) Jax: Alexis? Alexis! -- Jax: Hey, hey are you all right? I'm going to get you out, okay? Come on. -- Jax: You're going to be okay. You're going to be okay. -- (at the cabin) Jax: Come on, Alexis. Let's not do something crazy on Valentines Day. ---- (she wakes up) Alexis: You're better at this damsel in distress stuff than I ever could have imagined. ----Jax: What happened? -- Alexis: I was preoccupied. It was snowing hard. I slid on some ice and hit something. ---- Alexis: Uh-uh. -- Jax: Hey, how many fingers?(he has 3 up) Alexis: Two. -- Jax: Bad answer. -- Alexis: Four. -- Jax: I'm afraid you might have a concussion, Alexis, so you're going to have to stay awake, okay? -- Alexis: (sleepily) Okay. -- Jax: Hey... -- Alexis: Huh? -- Jax: Do you sing? -- Alexis: No. -- Jax: Me neither. But I'm going to have some way to keep you occuppied, so -- (Jax unzips his coat, Alexis sits up quickly )

***************************************************************

February 17, 1999 -- Alexis: I don't have a concussion. -- Jax: Mm-hmm. That's what they all say, you know. You feeling a little nauseated in the stomach? Hmm? -- Alexis: You're obsessed with my stomach and it really needs to stop. -- Jax: That's because you got a concussion. -- Alexis: I don't have a concussion. -- Jax: Uh-huh. (Alexis gets up and falls back, Jax catches her.) Whoa, come on sit, you sit. ---- Alexis: Look at this, painstakingly put together by a man who was hoping to... Jax: Get lucky? -- Alexis: I hate that expression. A woman is not a coin toss. -- Jax: Okay. ----Jax: Jerry won't mind. -- Alexis: How do you know? --Jax: Well, because I wouldn't mind if I were him and he were me, so... -- Alexis: You do a lousy impression of feuding brothers. It was slightly convincing at the beginning, but it's really gone straight downhill. -- Jax: Yeah. The thing about a brother -- you know, you look him in the eye and there's always a part of you that is five years old. And you know if those goblins finally decide to come out of the closet to grab you, then he'll be the one to step up and say, "No. Take me instead." And what we're poised to do will change Stefan's world for the duration, and not for the better. So if you're having second thoughts... -- Alexis: Is it that obvious? -- Jax: Here you go. -- Alexis: I got cold feet and I called him. -- Jax: Stefan? -- Alexis: You were right about goblins in the closet and being five years old. A year and some months ago, two distant cousins, whom I happened to love, turned into a brother and a nephew. And it meant more to me than I could ever have guessed. And I felt more than I thought I could feel for anyone, ever. This afternoon, I tried to make Stefan understand that. -- Jax: And did he? -- Alexis: He gave me forty lashes with my olive branch and told me that I was no longer his sister, and that I was his enemy. -- Jax: Ouch. -- Alexis: No. It simplifies things. -- Jax: Well, for me it does. -- Alexis: And me, no more wavering. I made it clear, I think, that all I wanted was what was rightfully mine, not revenge. -- Jax: Yes, you did. -- Alexis: Can I have both? ---- Alexis: How do my pupils look? -- Jax: Normal. -- Alexis: How would they look if I had a concussion? -- Jax: Not normal. Look, I'm not a doctor, but I think you're going to be okay. -- Alexis: You just wanted to look behind my pupils to see if anyone was home. You think I'm a flake. -- Jax: What, because you tried to make a deal with Stefan and cut me out? No. You were so calm and reasonable, mostly. I figured you were overdue for an "Oh, my God. What am I doing," moment. -- Alexis: You could have warned me. -- Jax: Well, it's over now, right? -- Jax: It all comes out in the wash. You know, Jerry and I anticipated that we'd be running into some family weirdness. -- Alexis: You know, you bring along plenty of you own, believe you me. -- Jax: Yeah, it comes with the territory. -- Alexis: Is there a little voice in your head telling you to bail out on me? -- Jax: No. The voice in my head is talking to you, and do you know what it is saying? "Don't let Sonny Corinthos use you."

***************************************************************

February 22, 1999 ----Alexis: Jax. -- Jax: Hey. Alexis: We still partners? -- Jax: Of course. -- Alexis: Then what were you doing with Helena? -- Alexis: I've been double-crossed by partners before, so if something is going on, I'd really like to know about it. -- Jax: I take it you're referring to my chat with Helena. -- Alexis: It looked like you were having a smiling contest. Now, what's going on? -- Jax: You know, I understand that you've grown up in an environment of distrust, but if I have to explain myself to you on a daily basis, then this working arrangement is over. (Sonny comes and interrupts them saying Jason's come home)

***************************************************************

February 26, 1999 -- (Alexis warns Jax) Alexis: Helena's not like anyone that you have dealt with before. -- Jax: Well, I'm not like anyone she's ever dealt with before, either. (Alexis looks impressed)

***************************************************************

March 1, 1999 ---- Sonny to Jax: (about Alexis) She's a gem. Learn to appreciate her.

***************************************************************

March 4, 1999 ---- (about Dr. Lastiris) Alexis: He's hiding something. Jax: How could you tell? -- Alexis: Ten years as a trial attorney. -- Jax: Well, in that case, we need to catch him off guard. -- Alexis: Good idea! How? -- Jax: Show up at his front door. -- Alexis: In Greece? -- Jax: Yeah, it's not hard to find. Just fly to Hungary and turn south. -- Alexis: (smiling) You really do go all-out, don't you? -- Jax: Well, I was under the impression you did, too.

***************************************************************

March 8, 1999 ---- Jax: Well, it's a little late for Dr. Lastiris. Did Gerta regain her composure? -- Alexis: No, she keeps repeating, "he was fine, he was fine, he was fine." He is clearly not fine. ---- Do you have any idea what what happened to him? ---- You thinking what I'm thinking? -- Jax: Helena got to him first.

***************************************************************

March 9, 1999 ---- Jax: Yes, right back where we started. You know, so far, this expedition to Greece hasn't been my most successful business trip. -- Alexis: Nonsense. Look at all we've accomplished in the past twenty-four hours. We found the man we came to see. -- Jax: Dead. -- Alexis: But we found him. And we had a very spirited discussion with the local police inspector. -- Jax: An interrogation. And now we're breaking and entering.

***************************************************************

March 12, 1999 ---- Alexis: Ah ha! -- Jax: It's a waste of time. -- Alexis: Watch the master at work.

***************************************************************

April 2, 1999 ---- Jax: Are you going to park it? -- Alexis: Park my bag? -- Jax: Sit? -- Alexis: Here? -- Jax: What am I, your chauffer? Don't answer that. -- Alexis: There's no co-pilot. -- Jax: Yeah, Jerry got tied up. -- Alexis: Oh. -- Jax: Watch your step. -- Alexis: Okay. ---- Alexis: So, who's going to fix me my six-course meal and bring me hot towels and slippers? -- Jax: We've got food. I'll whip it up. But let's get up in the air first, okay? -- Alexis: No. You can't whip it up. If you make dinner, we'll die. -- Jax: Well, okay, then it's settled. You'll wait on me. ---- Alexis: Did anyone ever tell you how irritating over-confidence can be? -- Jax: In a pilot, confidence is a good thing. -- Alexis: Oh. -- Jax: Whereas, in a passenger, obedience is an even better thing. ---- Jax: You can open your eyes now. We've reached cruising altitude. -- Alexis: I was just resting. -- Jax: I take it you're not ready for dinner. -- Alexis: Do you think we could wait a little longer? -- Jax: Sure. We can wait as long as you want. -- Alexis: I actually like flying. -- Jax: Yeah? -- Alexis: In jumbo jets, where the sky is basically a reading light by day, and a closed blind by night. Travelling is merely enduring a badly decorated, overcrowded living room. -- Jax: You want to take the controls? -- Alexis: No. -- Jax: There's nothing like it, you know? Alexis: I believe you. -- Jax: The feeling of power, that you could keep going straight to the moon, ask for no one's permission. You like power. -- Alexis: I also have a healthy respect for gravity. -- Jax: Well, suit yourself. -- Alexis: Is it difficult? -- Jax: No, any idiot can fly. Plenty of idiots do. -- Alexis: Have you ever taught anyone to fly? -- Jax: Sure. -- Alexis: Is the last person you taught still alive? Oh, my god. -- Jax: It's all right. -- Alexis: Oh, I'm sorry. -- Jax: No, you couldn't have known. -- Alexis: Brenda? ---- Jax: You're thinking you're trapped in mid-air with a desperately depressed basket case. -- Alexis: I'm still thinking of ways to limit your fluid intake. -- Jax: Oh. -- Alexis: There's not room enough in this cockpit for two basket cases. -- Jax: Oh, don't worry. I haven't been desperately anything in, oh -- Alexis: What, days, weeks? Hours? I can't imagine worse things than what you went through. First you lose Brenda, and then lose everything you own. -- Jax: Oh, that. You know, well, I need the distraction. Yeah. People kept telling me that it would get better, and I knew theoretically that eventually I would, there would be a minute or a half an hour where I wouldn't miss her. It seemed impossible then. -- Alexis: And now? -- Jax: Well, I know it's better because I've stopped wishing there was something I could take for the pain. -- Alexis: Mmm-hmm. I didn't know her. I'm sorry. I mean, I knew of her. But I remember the first time that I saw her. You were both having dinner, and oh my, I just stopped in my tracks. She was that beautiful. And she was telling you some story, and it made you laugh, which made her so delighted that she laughed and then you laughed. I realize that's what made her so lovely, her joy at your joy. ---- Alexis: Oh. Aren't the stars amazing? They're like gold rain. -- Jax: Yeah. -- Alexis: Like an infinity of candles. -- Jax: Birthday candles. -- Alexis: Ah

***************************************************************

April 8, 1999 ---- Alexis: I'm all for being thorough, but I haven't even unpacked from the last trip. -- Jax: Look, I'll understand if you don't want to come. I know you have business here. -- Alexis: All right, all right, all right. I'll go. -- Jax: Was it something I said? -- Alexis: I've been wrong about Helena before, and you're so determined. If you're that determined, so am I. -- Jax: All right, meet me back here in twenty minutes. -- Alexis: Well, I have to say goodbye to Ned before I leave. -- Jax: Well, how long will that take? -- Alexis: A couple of hours. -- Jax: (under his breath) A couple of hours? ---- Jax: I'm just stocking up on provisions. -- Alexis: Doesn't look like trail mix to me. -- Jax: They're the hotel's special cookies. Just can't get enough of them. -- Alexis: Ah, yes the infamous Jax sweet tooth. You ought to have that looked at. -- Jax: I see you've discovered my weakness. -- Alexis: You gave yourself away when you dragged me into a pastry shop as we were fleeing Geneva being chased by two of Helena's gunmen. -- Jax: Yeah, well, what's the point fo traveling if you don't sample the eclairs? Now, I assume you have a bag. -- Alexis: Mmm-hmm. It's with the bellman. This is all a game to you, isn't it? -- Jax: That's right. And lucky for you, I'm really good at games. Come on.

***************************************************************

April 9, 1999 ---- Alexis: Why did she have to switch to a helicopter? She knows that I'm terrified of helicopters. Terrified of any small aircraft. And then she'll probably go from here to some war zone and catch a hot-air balloon, and then it'll probably be a hang-glider. Meanwhile, you'll be having the time of your life and I will slowly be driven insane. Death by insanity due to travel by small aircraft. That's it, you know. That's how she's going to kill me. ---- Why are we doing this? -- Jax: This is the fun part! -- Alexis: I am more convinced than ever that I am going to die, and all you can say is, 'This is the fun part'? -- Jax: Stick with me, Alexis, you'll learn what fun is. ---- Jax: Uh-huh. Want to know the bad news? -- Alexis: No. -- Jax: I think I know why she switched to helicopters. They can fly a lot lower, get below the radar. -- Alexis: What radar? -- Jax: Well, if we don't turn around soon, we're going to enter into Libyan airspace. -- Alexis: Turn! -- Jax: What? -- Alexis: If you take me into Libya, Ned will be very, very angry. -- Jax: Do you want me to turn back? -- Alexis: No. ----Jax: Just say we prevail. What are you going to do with all the Cassadine money? -- Alexis: I don't care about the money. This has nothing to do with the money. It's the principle of the thing. I want my identity. -- Jax: So you're risking your life at Helena's hands for the principle? -- Alexis: You're doing it for the sheer thrill of it. Who's crazier? I've put a lot of time and concentrated effort in having to reinvent myself. Alexis Davis, strong, capable, ultramodern attorney. Underneath the power suit lies frightened, neglected Alexis Davidovich. -- Jax: Still? -- Alexis: Don't tell anyone. -- Jax: So tying yourself to this miserable bunch you call a family, that will help you? -- Alexis: What else do I have to tie myself to? -- Jax: But why do you have to tie it to anyone? -- Alexis: Because I'm not a Davidovich. I'm a Cassadine. That's the whole point. -- Alexis: I don't really expect you to be able to what I'm saying. You've always been accepted. You haven't had to fight for your place in the scheme of things. -- Jax: No, that's not true. I suffered loss and regrets. I just don't see the point in bogging myself down with that. The Jacks' philosophy has always been, "If you don't know what to do, just keep doing what would come next, and you'll get there." I mean, as you well know, my family is hardly perfect or ideal. -- Alexis: Yours lie and defraud. Mine kill. -- Alexis: What? -- Jax: Looks like Helena's helicopter dropped altitude again. -- Alexis: What's wrong? -- Alexis: Jax? Jax? Say everything's going to be okay. ---- Jax: Alexis, pull the button on the right! Push it. -- Alexis: Which button? -- Jax: Call in a mayday. -- Alexis: Mayday! -- Jax: This is helicopter, four, two, zero, alpha, charlie, six. -- Alexis: This is helicopter, what? -- Jax: Four, two, zero, alpha, charlie, six. -- Alexis: Four, two, zero, alpha, charlie, six. -- Jax: Approximately 900 kilometers west of Cairo. -- Alexis: We are approximately -- Jax: 900 kilometers west of Cairo. -- Alexis: Nine kilometers west of Cairo. -- Jax: And bearing 2-6-8. -- Alexis: We're bearing two, Jax: And bearing 2-6-8, going down from 8,500 feet. Mayday, mayday! Damn. -- Alexis: What? -- Jax: It's not transmitting. -- Alexis: What, the radio? -- Jax: You got your seat belt secure? -- Alexis: What's wrong with the motor? -- Jax: It's not getting any fuel, even though it says we've got plenty. -- Alexis: What was that? -- Jax: Hold on! We're going down! -- Alexis: Oh, my god! Oh, my god! Oh, my god!

April 12, 1999 ---- Alexis: If you can hear me, this is Alexis Davis Cassadine, and the pilot is, was, Jasper Jacks. He... I can't find him. If you can hear me.... can anybody hear me? Can anybody hear me? God. Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! -- Jax: Well, make up your mind. Do you want to be rescued or shot? -- Jax: Although if you're counting on that radio, I'd count on being shot. -- Alexis: Oh, Jax! I thought you were dead, you jerk! I thought you were dead. -- Jax: Are you okay? -- Alexis: Yeah, I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm okay. Are you okay? -- Jax: I'm okay. I'm okay. ---- Alexis: You think Helena's going to come back to see if we're -- Jax: If we're dead? Well, it's unlikely they'll set down, so just -- Alexis: Just -- Jax: Pretend -- Alexis: To be dead? -- Jax: Yeah. -- Alexis: No problem. -- Jax: How are you doing? -- Alexis: I'm fine. I'm cold. -- Jax: Well, you won't be when the sun comes up. (he puts a blanket around her) Here. ---- Jax: I'm just going to take a look around. Why don't you take a seat and have a rest. Yeah, sit down. There are scorpions here. So just as long as you don't play with them, you'll be okay. I'll be right back. ---- Alexis: Jax, the flight plan that you filed -- where did you say it was going? -- Jax: To Greece, but Jerry and Ned will find us. Ned will find me just so he can kill me. ---- Alexis: I want you to tell me the truth. Are we going to die? -- Jax: I'm going to fix the radio, okay? Now, it might take awhile, but as long as we stay out of the sun, we'll be okay. If worse comes to worse, then Jerry will do what I would , find Helena, put a gun to her head, and find out where we are. I have no intention of dying here, Alexis, and I think you feel the same way. If only to spite Helena. -- Alexis: You certainly know how to give the right incentive. -- Jax: We're going to survive, Alexis. Well, at least you are. Ned's still going to kill me.

***************************************************************

April 14, 1999 ---- Alexis: Have you actually studied radio repair? -- Jax: Of course. -- Alexis: Helicopter radio repair? -- Jax: Yeah, that's right. -- Alexis: Hmm. This make and model? -- Jax: Every make and model. -- Alexis: You're just saying that to keep me quiet. -- Jax: I wouldn't dream of it, Alexis. ---- Alexis: You know, even if you find the bug, it doesn't mean that you are going to be able to put that radio back together. Which means no one is ever going to know where we are, which means that no one will ever find us, and then we're going to run out of supplies, not that you can say that four bottles of water are supplies. So then we'll just sort of wither away and die, hopefully before the coyotes devour us. -- Jax: There aren't any coyotes in the Sahara. -- Alexis: All right, the hyenas or the camels or the vultures or whatever it is that eats dead people in the desert. -- Jax: Look, Alexis, I realize that you were brought up in a household that was ruled by desperation and fear. But my family always focused on the positive, and we were taught that a Jacks can never be stranded, that one foot in front of the other always gets you home. And fixing this radio is the first step in getting us back to Port Charles. Once I've done that, then we'll focus on the second. Now, in the meantime, try to lighten up, okay? ---- Alexis: Helena wanted the bastard daughter killed. It looks like she's going to get exactly what she wants. ---- Jax: That's it. This is the bug. This is the little bug that made the radio go dead. -- Alexis: You did it! ---- Alexis: And that's going to get us out of here alive? -- Jax: No. We are.

***************************************************************

April 15, 1999 ---- Alexis: Jax, listen, if your hands are cold, why don't you take your turn with the blanket. --Jax: I'm all right. -- Alexis: You know, you're not all right. If you don't get some sleep, you're going to go cross-eyed and you won't be able to see anything. Your virtue is safe with me. ---- Alexis: I'm sorry. -- Jax: What for? The trip was my idea. -- Alexis: The idea was my idea. Alexis: Helena killed my mother. So as soon as I got the chance, I stepped up and asked her to kill me too. What was so important? So damn important, about becoming a real Cassadine? I certainly wasn't missing anything. I made a great life for myself. I had a great career, and now... I met the perfect man. He is the perfect man because he understands me, and no one has understood me before. Or my place in my family, or what it's like to be rational all the time, even though I feel just as crazy as everybody else. I stayed rational just so they could all act crazy. -- Jax: Isn't that what the two of you call "gatekeeping?" -- Alexis: I had a life that worked. I did. I did. I did. And I gave it up for what? For recognition from my mother's murderer so I could snatch all the family millions away from her? I'm sorry. But I think I may have gotten us killed for nothing. -- Jax: I don't know about you, but I'm not dead yet. Number two, as a fellow victim of a fictional upbringing, I can't quite believe you want yours back. -- Alexis: You know, everything about you is relentless. You are relentlessly upbeat. You are relentlessly sure of everything. -- Alexis: What's that noise? -- Jax: Oh. She's breathing. Reception is not too good. Cave doesn't help, and neither does this storm. -- Alexis: It works? Well, how? -- Jax: Well, it just made its first squawk in protest. "Ned is the perfect man."

April 21, 1999 -- Alexis: Don't you ever contemplate just giving up? -- Jax: I don't even acknowledge the possibility. -- Alexis: Oh, come on. -- Jax: It's called optimism, Alexis. It's a powerful thing. -- Alexis: Yeah. Well, forgive me if I can't relate. Having your mother's throat slit when you're five doesn't encourage a hopeful outlook. -- Jax: Perhaps not. But in spite of that, you're more optimistic than you think. -- Alexis: Oh, is that so? -- Jax: Yeah. And you're smart, you're self-reliant, a well-respected attorney. Those things didn't happen on their own. They took commitment and conviction, which require a healthy dose of optimism. -- Alexis: Yeah, try desperation. -- Jax: No, you wanted to succeed so you could get out from underneath the Cassadines. You wanted to prove that you were as good or even better than the lot of them. You believed that you could do that, and that's why you prevailed. ---- Jax: You cold? -- Alexis: I can't stop shivering. -- Jax: Come here. -- Feel better? -- Alexis: A little. Well, you were right about one thing, Ned and Jerry were looking for us. Jax: So if you weren't stranded with me here right now, where would you, Alexis: Not that game again, please.-- Jax: You have a better idea? Where would you like to be? -- Alexis: A spa in Switzerland. -- Jax: City? -- Alexis: In Gstaad. I'm getting a seaweed wrap in front of a fireplace. -- Jax: A seaweed wrap? -- Alexis: It happens to be an excellent skin conditioner. -- Jax: Oh, you don't have to sell me on the value of seaweed. I put it in my protein shake every morning. -- Alexis: Oh, so you'll drink it, but you won't wrap yourself in it? -- Jax: Yeah, that's right. -- Alexis: Why not? -- Jax: Well, once you cross that line between food and clothing, there's just no turning back. -- Alexis: You're serious? -- Jax: Deadly. Today, seaweed jockey shorts. Tomorrow, a brussel sprout hat. -- Alexis: Hmm. I'd give pretty much anything to see you in a brussel sprout hat. -- Jax: About as much as I'd give to see you in a -- in a pea coat. -- Alexis: Now that's pretty funny. -- Jax: That's pretty funny. -- Alexis: A pea coat. A pea coat.

April 22, 1999 ---- Alexis: Hey, hey, hey, it's this brother thing that really worked here. Now Jax never stopped doubting Jerry for one minute, he believed in him even when I didn't, and I thank you both for trusting each other when no one else in their right mind would have. ---- Alexis: Look, I got to see the sun rise over the Sahara, I now know what stars look like, and I actually killed a scorpion with my own... purse. And I found out that Jax was funny. I mean, who knew that? -- Jax: Well, at least some people are starting to figure it out.

May 5, 1999 ---- Alexis: Hey. -- Jax: Hi. -- Ned: Hello. -- Alexis: I thought we were going to have lunch. -- Ned: Oh, we are. -- Alexis: As entertaining as it would be to watch you two bare-knuckle each other over a basket of breadsticks, I was thinking of something a little more intimate. -- Jax: Well, I believe she's trying to tell you something. --Alexis: I believe that I'm trying to tell you something. -- Jax: There's no need to be subtle about it, I was about to leave on my own. But I do have one question for you. -- Alexis: Yes? -- Jax: As your supposed partner, when were you planning on telling me you had lost interest in raiding Cassadine Industries? -- Alexis: About the same time you were planning on telling me about your meeting with Stefan. -- Jax: Touché. -- Alexis: Oh, it was nothing. Besides, I told you already. I made it very clear in the desert. -- Jax: You were nearly delirious from hunger, I fully expected you to change your mind. -- Alexis: Well, I didn't. As much as I wanted it, as much as I thought I deserved it, I will never ever get any validation from the Cassadines. And after five days in that desert, it really doesn't matter anymore. -- Jax: Well, congratulations. It was great working with you, and you're even more remarkable than I thought. -- Alexis: Awww. -- Ned: I tell her that same thing at least once a day. -- Alexis: Well, this is turning out to be a much more pleasant day than I ever could've imagined. Are you sure you won't stay?

***************************************************************

May 19, 1999 ---- Jax: I've got a breakfast meeting in about fifteen minutes. You care to join me for a cup of coffee? -- Alexis: Oh, no thanks, I just had a breakfast meeting. If I have anymore coffee you're going to have to peel me off the ceiling. -- Jax: Ah, let me guess. A new client who is willing to have you pay anything to have you represent him? --Alexis: Now, why would you say that? --Jax: Well you just won a custody case against one of the wealthiest families in America. -- Alexis: Is that why my phone is ringing off the hook? -- Jax: No,no, I mean it. You did an incredible job. Congratulations. -- Alexis: Thank you, very much. -- Alexis: Wasn't it you who said to me that I shouldn't take this job, that it would be very, very bad for me because Jason was a rat and Sonny was only distracting me so that I couldn't do business with you? -- Jax: I am. And I stand by my word, none of which detract from your brilliance as an attorney. -- Alexis: Ah. All right, thank you. -- Alexis: So Ned tells me you're doing very well. -- Jax: Not too bad. -- Alexis: He told me that you bought 5% of ELQ stock from Katherine Bell. -- Jax: So much for privacy. -- Alexis: I know you don't want to hear this, but I think that stock will bring you nothing but trouble. Which is exactly why you bought it! Well, done.

June 16, 1999 ---- (Alexis flips onto Jax on the couch at the Gatehouse) -- Jax: You were expecting someone else? -- Alexis: Why are you here?! -- Jax: Ow, oh, I think you got a rib. -- Alexis: How did you get in? -- Jax: You know, you and Ned must have a pretty athletic relationship. I'm impressed. -- Alexis: Did he expect you? -- Jax: Come on, Alexis, it's not like you and I haven't slept together before. -- Alexis: We were clothed. And freezing. In the desert. -- Jax: Well, you should tell Ned to keep his doors locked. And perhaps wear a crash helmet or something. Come on, I miss you, okay? I really enjoyed working with you. We were a great team. -- Alexis: We were. Right into the Sahara. -- Jax: So, here's a question for you. Have you given up on getting your share of the Cassadine fortune? -- Alexis: Cassadine? I'm sorry. But if you need a good attorney, when you need a good attorney -- Jax: Especially one who hurdles, right? Call me. -- Jax: Thank you, I will. I will. You know, my only regret is not making Helena pay for trying to kill us. -- Alexis: Helena? I'm sorry, I... -- Jax: Okay, I see your point. -- Alexis: You know, if you ever do want to go after Helena again, don't call me. -- Jax: Okay, I understand. ---- Ned: What do you want, Jax? And I don't mean for breakfast. -- Alexis: I swear he was here when I got here. -- Jax: You're a lucky man, Ned Ashton. -- Alexis: If I were you, I would lock your doors. ---- Ned: See, I'm a trustworthy guy. -- Alexis: Oh, and Jax isn't? -- Ned: Did he put something in those chips? -- Alexis: I personally find him to be an excellent partner. --Ned: Well, maybe from your perspective he is. I mean, he won't try to freeze the world if you disagree with him. But I don't trust him. -- Alexis: Oh, and why should you? This is, after all, only corporate politics, not a family picnic. But can't you just imagine Edward's face if the two of you were in business together. -- Ned: It's almost worth the hassle, just to see it. But not quite.

***************************************************************

June 24, 1999 ---- Alexis: Neither do I, not anymore. And you know what, I think expanding L&B is a great idea. -- Ned: Good. I'm glad you think so. -- Alexis: And you know who I think would be a natural partner? Not me, don't worry. You were worried, weren't you? -- Ned: Well, maybe a little. -- Alexis: You practically ran screaming out the door. -- Ned: Who's the partner? -- Alexis: Jax. -- Ned: All right, now I will run screaming out the door. What happened to you in the desert? -- Alexis: He happens to be excellent in a crunch. -- Ned: Maybe it was sun stroke. -- Alexis: You two like each other, I know you do, you just won't admit it. And I think you'd be very good together, the two of you. (Ned starts playing th guitar to shut Alexis up) You know I'm right!

***************************************************************

June 30, 1999 ---- Alexis: Why not Jax? He is an ideal candidate for this kind of escapade. -- Chloe: Do you really think so? -- Alexis: I do, I do. I think he would consider this whole thing a lark. He's a gambler, he's a player, and you know something? He's been off his game lately, and I think pulling off a stunt like this would really help him. -- Chloe: So, he would consider this a stunt. -- Alexis: This is perfect. This is exactly what you need. Granted, he's a corporate raider, but he's honest, and he loves the game. A wife, I think a wife would improve his social contacts, which could only help him in business, are there are certainly worse people to be seen with. -- Alexis: Visibility, come to think of it, would be very good for both of you from a business standpoint. Besides, Jax is a lot of fun. I know it's surprising, but he is. He is fun, and he's not likely to fall in love any time soon. -- Chloe: Why not? -- Alexis: Did he ever mention Brenda? -- Chloe: No. -- Alexis: Oh. Well, I'm not surprised. He doesn't really broadcast how he feels. -- Chloe: So he's seeing someone. -- Alexis: Have you ever heard of Brenda Barrett? She was a model. -- Chloe: Yeah. Dark, petite, lots of cosmetic ads. -- Alexis: Well, he was in love with her. Actually, they were in love with each other. They planned to spend the rest of their lives together. -- Chloe: She died in a car accident, right? I read about that in the trades. -- Alexis: Jax hasn't gotten over that yet. And sometimes I wonder if he ever will. -- Chloe: You're right. Jax is perfect.

***************************************************************

July 2, 1999 ---- Jax: Ned? Ned. -- Alexis: Ned. -- Jax: Ned. -- Alexis: I've got the lyrics down. How many verses are we doing? -- Jax: Have you two gone out of your minds? -- Alexis: I happen to think Ned would make a very nice husband. -- Jax: Yes, for you. -- Alexis: But I don't need one, and Chloe does. ---- Jax: I'm shocked. I really -- I don't know what to say. I'm speechless. I really am. -- Alexis: Jax, speechless is when you're no longer speaking. If you have a specific objection, I'm listening. ---- Jax: Alexis, aren't you attorney's sworn to uphold the law or something? -- Alexis: I can assure you that no one has ever been charged with perjury for making a false marriage vow. Ned will still love me. Chloe will still keep her business. Everybody wins. -- Jax: Bull. You think getting married is like renewing your driver's license? You walk into an office, you sign a few forms, then pay a fee, and then be on your way? No. Besides, doesn't her uncle's will specify that she has to be happily married? -- Alexis: Happily is one of those legal terms, like pornography, easy to use, hard to define. ---- Jax: Well, I'm objecting now. Listen to me, because what I'm saying is true and we ignored it at our peril. Marriage shouldn't be convenient. It should be a pain in the neck. -- Alexis: I didn't know you were such a romantic. -- Jax: Yes, you did. you just didn't know you could flush me out in the open. ---- Jax: And I have to say, whatever Alexis has said is undoubtedly true.

***************************************************************

July 5, 1999 ---- Jax: I'm glad we finally got that straightened out. (to Alexis) Are you ready to take the plunge, my darling? ---- Jax: Oh yes, yes. A little wild, you know? So will the honeymoon be, right? That's how we like things, don't we? -- Alexis: We're parachutists. ---- Ned: You may now stop kissing the bride.
