My afghan is King sized (approximately 90" x 95")

Left-Handed Chart-------------------Right Handed Chart

This warm and beautiful king sized afghan will require a bit more work than designing your own custom t-shirts but it will be worth the effort. It's great for cuddling up on the couch in front of the TV or a warm fire on chilly days.

I am using a G Hook and Red Heart worsted weight yarn, in Burgundy, Variegated, Navy and Hunter Green. My beginning square measures about 1.75 X 1.75 with 5 rows of 6 sc each if that helps you with the gauge.

Pattern:

BEGINNING SQUARE: With Burgundy ch 7. Row 1 - sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across (6 sc). Mark as right side. Ch 1, turn. Row 2 - sc in first sc and across (6 sc), ch 1, turn. Row 3-5 - repeat row 2. Fasten off.

DIAGONAL ROW 1: With right side facing, attach Variegated Color to lower right (or left) corner of beg square (depending on whether you are right handed or left handed).

DIAGONAL ROW - SQUARE 1: Ch 7.

ROW 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across (6 sc). Ch 1, turn.

ROW 2 - sc in first sc and across (6 sc). Ch 1, turn.

ROW 3 - sc in first sc and across (6 sc). Sl ST into corresponding row of previous square. Ch1, turn.

ROWS 4 and 5: Rep Rows 2 and 3.

At end of Row 5, ch 1. DO NOT TURN.

Sq 2: Working onto top of Beg Sq, sc in first sc and across (6 sc). Ch 1, turn.

ROWS 2-5: Complete sq as for beg sq. Fasten off.

DIAGONAL ROW 2: With right side facing, attach Navy to lower right (or left) corner of Diagonal Row 1, sq 1.

DIAGONAL ROW 2 - SQUARE 1: Ch 7 and work as for SQUARE 1 of DIAGONAL ROW 1.

Squares 2 and 3: Work as for sq 2 of Diagonal Row 1 and sl st to corresponding row of previous sq as for sq 1 of diagonal row 1.

DIAGONAL ROWS 3-51: Repeat DIAGONAL ROW 2, changing colors, until width of the work is the width you want it, say 36".

Note: Hereafter each row will start at the TOP of the FIRST SQUARE of the previous row to form the long edge of the afghan.

DIAGONAL ROW 52: With right side facing, attach color change to upper right (or left) corner of first square of previous row. Complete squares as before.

DIAGONAL ROWS 53-55: Work rows as before.

DIAGONAL ROWS 56-104: Hereafter each row will end at the right (left) side of the last square worked on the previous row to form the top edge.

LAST SQUARE: Work last square in top right (left) corner.

Border as you like. I was thinking of adding one section (5 rows) of each color that I used (which is four) in sc's (with 3 sc's in each corner) and then doing the very last row of the last section in scallops, depending if I can figure out the spacing correctly.
