The Legend of Basara started as a beautiful, enrapturing manga series by Tamura Yumi. If you have a Japanese bookstore in your area, Basara is published by Flower Comics (who is owned by Shougakukan, BTW). There are currently 26 volumes of manga, two artbooks, and probably several "comic novels" by now. Seeing as how there are about 5 chapters per manga, I'll be summarizing, not to mention translating, for a VERY long time.
