Chapter Twelve: Talking Of War

"Empress, I don't think we should capture the Seaking province Torrave," came the ever-persistent voice of Senator Brinxin.

"And why is that, Senator?" Empress Karen icy reply came. She was getting tired of the whole of Senator Brinxin. He was just disagreeing with her to do just that.

"Because it is just to far North . . . We already occupy regions to far North for my taste. It is to North."

"Senator, the Seakings captured that province from us in the Oceania War. And, to tell the truth, it is further South than this palace itself and very few Seakings care to venture into what they call "human" dwellings. They are humanoid, and that is not the same. They feel that deeply. And resent it. I want that province back! Now! We need Torrave to put us closer to the Seakings. And, it is the original island of the Empire. It is something my great-grandfather held dear to his heart. We need to get it back. I am not speaking lightly, my council," here, the Empress looked around the room at the group of men assembled. Her cool, blue-eyed stare was more than Senator Brinxin could handle. He was wary of those eyes. They were not the type he trusted.

"Empress, if we shed too much Seaking blood . . ." started Sorcerer Keens.

"We wont shed as much as a single drop, Sorcerer Keens! We will count a drop of their blood more valuable than twenty gallons of our own! And remember that, General Smee!" The girl ruler exclaimed with unusual venom.

"And why is that?" was the general inquiry.

"The reason being that killing another in war is horribly . . . disgusting. If they kill and rampage, so shall we. But, we cannot start it. That would be saying and showing that we are a monstrous race. And we aren't! Now, if we capture Torrave we will be guaranteed winning the war. I know and understand this better than you. I have issued my order. Capture the province, and appoint Ms. Carrie Hanson the ruler. That is all. You may leave," here, the ruler rose and exited.
