Chapter Six: Of Snipers And Pendants

"Mein Gott! What do you mean? "Exclaimed Sorcerer Keens, who was from Geonia, which was an entirely different country from Imperial Ruok. He had immigrated when he was ten to IR, and spoke his native language when in shock or surprise.

"I mean a sniper was sent to a home of a political leader in Ruok, fortunately, the occupant wasn't at the home and the sniper was caught. But . . .His blood was the Seakings," the Empress said. Empress Karen was careful not to mention the name or sex of the occupant. It would be safer. The room in which they were in was silent, and nothing except the soft breathing was to be heard. Toebon-nea moved closer to the Empress' side, and her swift eyes moved back and forth looking for possible intruders. Tre-tre Jachts (yachts) was directly behind the Empress, dressed in a white outfit, with a robe covering her, and she blended in the white room wonderfully, her green face making a wonderful contrast. Even in this predicament, the Empress' vain little heart wanted to look wonderful.

"I make a move to, ah, make the first move. Surprise them by attacking first, and get the advantage. The more fatalities there are on their side, the better!" Senator Brinxin said.

"Here, here!!!!" was the adamant reply from all the councilmen.

"Quiet! Senator Brinxin, your remark has been acknowledged," the girl said. "I heartily agree. I think that we should arrange our army to get ready for attack. Our military force has highly adapted since the Oseane (O-she-anne) War in the year 4020, but our problem is that the Seakings military force has more than likely advanced also. What their artillery for force is like, no one knows," The young Empress said. She turned her head ever so slightly toward the Sorcerer.

ZING!

Tre-tre shot well. A woman slumped against Sorcerer Keens, a Seaking gun in her hand.

"Get her out of here!" The Empress commanded. The room was filled with attendants before the first syllable was uttered. Four of them picked up the moaning woman. The rest searched the room for more possible assassins.

"I am sorry for that interruption, gentlemen," the Empress said. "Now, let us get to business."

Meanwhile, Shamal is helping Patti pack in her chambers. Twenty lasses and twenty lads, in "boy-girl" order, surrounded the outside walls. But otherwise they had their privacy.

"Could you please get my jewel box, ShaSha?" Patti requested.

"Certainly, Patti," replied Shamal. Patti was folding some silk things (And if Shamal had been nosy, he would have noticed they were underclothes. But he wouldn't have made a big deal out of them, like some other boys named Zach who are one month and twenty-one days older than Shamal (Who I happen to know in real life) would have done!) She laid them in her travel-case, and then turned her attention to her jewelry box. In it, she placed a blue-gemmed necklace and some matching earrings. She hesitated, and then took off two rings and a bracelet of the same set. Taking off her timepiece, she wrapped it up in a cloth and put it in it's own case, then secreted in the lining of her travel-case. She fingered the pendant at her neck.

"I really don't want to put this away, it was the last think my mother and father gave me . . .." Patti started.

"May I?" Shamal asked.

"Of course," Patti held her neck back, as the pendant was a choker and hugged her neck. Shamal's fingers traced the chain to the pendant, and Patti felt a small shiver go up her back.

"Take it off, your parent's wouldn't want you to loose it. And maybe it will be easier to sneak by, because you wouldn't look like a commoner if you had it on," Shamal said.

"A commoner! Wouldn't my people hide me and keep their mouths shut!!!!!!" Patti's abrasive side was coming out.

Shamal grins, "There might be spies."

"O of course. So I must dress down! I hate dressing down when I have to. Not that I don't usually do, but being forced to do it is something quite different!" Patti grinned. Shamal knew that keeping her well-know personality low was going to be hard work.

"Hush, you act as a fool when you talk so!" Shamal chided. He went and lifted up her honey color hair (For all of those who don't know what honey colored hair is, it is very dark colored blonde hair or VERY light colored brown. Sometimes it has auburn highlights. I have honey colored hair.) Then he looked at the clasp, and fiddled with it. "I don't think I can get this to work!" Shamal joked. "Wait, just a sec, I think I have it! Yes, I do! Now, it fell! Where is it?"

"On my shirt collar," Patti replied, handing him the pendant. She smiled at him, and then sighed. "Where exactly am I going? I have no idea of the home to which I am going!" Patti exclaimed

"You will join me in my summer home in southern in Solace," Shamal said. "The Empress came up with that idea, and it is a fairly good one, if I have any say."

"O, it is a nice place to hide. And since you are always visiting me, and I hardly ever you, people wont suspect a thing!" Patti exclaimed. "It will be wonderful!" Patti's hair falls in her eyes, and unconsciously Shamal brushes it away. Patti's hand touches his, and he draws it away, that odd feeling that he had had early returning. A fleeting thought went through his mind, and Shamal blushes slightly. He happened to think that her red lips were kissable.

"It is hot in here, you are as red as a rose!" Patti remarked. She rose quickly, and tried to open a window, then laughed. "They are locked, let us try to air conditioner!" Patti swiftly walked to the other end of the room, and flicked a switch. Instantly, the room became several degrees cooler. Shamal had taken out a lace a handkerchief and was dabbing his forehead, though just to hide his face.

~~ Why did I think that? ~~ Shamal thought. ~~ I think I like her. But will she like me, I mean; I am four year younger than her. I bet she thinks of me just as a small child. O, what am I to do? ~~

"Patti, if you will excuse me, I need to change my attire," Shamal said, rising. Leaving the room, Shamal motioned for his lads to follow. Patti looked at his departing back.

~~ I wonder, does he suspect of my feelings for him; and does have feeling of his own? ~~ Patti wondered. Turning to the closet, she grabbed the uniform form, where it was the only item in the closet. Taking off her outer clothes, she started the process of changing into her war clothes.
