KIRK, D. Percy - 74, Aspen, Guysborough Co., died Tuesday, September 8, 1998, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax.
Born in Aspen, he was a son of the late Everett and Anna Mae (McKeen) Kirk.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas with the Armed Forces.
He was a former resident of Oshawa, Ont., where he had been employed with General Motors for a number of years. He then retired to Aspen where he operated Kirk's Canteen for a number of years.
He was also a member of Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen.
He is survived by stepson, Clarence Laing and wife Jean, Kingston, Kings Co.; stepdaughter, Betty Franklin (Danny), Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Carol Kirk, Oshawa; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes MacDonald, Hopewell;
Kaye Paynter, New Minas, and brother, Everett, Antigonish.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Muriel Lawson; son, tom, and sister Margaret Whidden, Wolfville.
His remains will rest in Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen, with visitation today from 7-9 p.m. and from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Rev. Ross Hamilton officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen.
