LONG, John Maurice - 86,
Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, formerly of Roachvale,
died December 30, 1996. Born in Ogden, he was a son of the late
Michael T. and Margaret (Williams) Long. He was self-employed
most of his life, providing for his large family by working as a woodsman,
carpenter, trucker and farmer. He was a lifelong member
of St. Ann's Parish. He will be sadly missed by
his daughters, Sister Alice Long, CMD, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Catherine C. Atwood,
London, Ont.; Pearl (Mrs. Charles Snell), Freda (Mrs. Paul Williams),
Lower Sackville; Barbara (Mrs. Joe Watson), Kitchener, Ont.;
Mildred (Mrs. Brian Russell), Truro; sons, John (Nina),
Michael (Helen), Lower Sackville; Lawrence (Mina), Loch Katrine; George (Nancy),
Henry (Stasia), Roachvale; Herman (Flora), Bryant (Ruth), Giants Lake;
Tommy (Bernadette), Guysborough Intervale; Anthony (Lee), Dartmouth;
brother, Michael (Josie), Guysborough; 37 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
Johnny was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Pearl (Matheson) Long,
two grandchildren; three daughters-in-law; sisters, Kathleen, Margaret E.,
Margaret M., Mildred, Mary; brother, Henry. Visitation 2-9 p.m.
today and Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday from St. Ann's Church,
Guysborough, Rev. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in parish cemetery.
