ALFRED GORDON MAILMAN - age 85,
of Sonora, Guys. Co; died Thursday, March 19, 1998,
in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
Born in Geoggin, Guys. Co., he was the son of
the late Jacob and Annabelle (Jack)Mailman.
He joined the Canadian Army in July 1940,
serving with the Pictou Highlanders.
He was discharged in 1942.
For a number of years he had worked as a woodsman.
Prior to his retirement he had worked at
the Beckerton Co-Op Fish Plant for 30 years.
He was a member of the Calvary Faith Church, Sonora.
He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Burns;
sons: Stanley, Denver, Guys. Co.;
Blain, Upper Stewiacke; daughters, Sandra,(Mrs.Robert Robinson),
Sonora; Jeannie, Texas, USA; 5 grandchildren,
2 great grand- children; sisters, Rhoda (Mrs. Anslie Kaiser)
and Della( Mrs.Edward Kaiser), Maple Manor, Sherbrooke.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Faye; granddaughter
Elaine and brothers: Fred, Arthur, Guy,and Malcolm.
His remains will rest at the Calvary Faith Church, Sonora
with private family visitation on Friday from 2-4 p.m.
and public visitation Friday from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday
with Pastor Wayne Bray officiating. Burial will be
in the Hillside Cemetery, Sonora. Memorial donations may be made
to the Calvary Faith Church Building Fund or to
St.Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Arrangements are under
the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater.
