MacIsaac, Flora May "Flo" - 92,
St. Ninian's Street, Antigonish, died Monday, April 16, 2001,
in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born May 4, 1908, in Giant's Lake, Guysborough County,
she was the daughter of the late Dan Archie and Catherine (MacNeil) MacIsaac.
Flo began her teaching career in the one room schoolhouse.
She taught in various schools throughout Guysborough, Antigonish and Inverness Counties.
She graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1928.
She was among the first of four women to graduate from
St. Mary's University in 1955, obtaining her bachelor of arts degree.
She taught school in Halifax for 25 years ,
retiring from St. Pat's Junior High in 1973.
In 1975, she returned to Antigonish to be close to her family.
She was a member of St. Ninian's CWL.
Surviving are brother, John Angus (Florence) MacIsaac, St. Andrews;
sister-in-law, Peggy A. B. MacIsaac, Antigonish; Mary MacIsaac,
Peterborough, Ontario; nephews, Neil (Joan) , Leo (Paula), Carroll (Marlene),
J.D. (Ann), Giant's Lake; Paul (Patsy), Isaac's Harbour; Adrian (Sheila), Lower Sackville;
Donnie (Murdo) , Allan (Valerie), Alex (Rosemary), Ian (Judy),
Antigonish; Aneas (Barb), Burlington, Ontario; Rod (Jennifer), Doug (Nora),
Peterborough, Ontario; Colin (Lauren), Calgary, Alberta;
nieces, Patsy (Bill) MacLean, Lower South River; Jane (Bub) Aker,
Joanne (Lloyd) Smith, Antigonish; Cordis (John) Boyd, Burlington, Ontario;
Donna (Scot) Flemming, Bonnie Minor, Peterborough, Ontario;
Several grand-nieces and grand nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, A.B., Archie Dan and Joseph MacIsaac;
sister, Mary MacIsaac. Visitation was 2-4,7-9 p.m.
Wednesday in MacIsaac Funeral Home Ltd., 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish.
Funeral 2 p.m.. today in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish,
Rev. Dan MacLennan officiating. Burial at a later date
in St. Francis DeSales Cemetery, Giant's Lake.
Family flowers only please.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis DeSales Renovation Fund.
