Lawrence E. Demmons

SMITHFIELD, Guysborough County -
Lawrence Edstant Demmons, 74, of Lake Road, Smithfield,
died Saturday at home. Born in Glenelg, he was a son
of the late Isaac and Mary (Whidden) Demmons. He lived in
Smithfield most of his life except for a few years in Ontario. He was an adherent
of the Glenelg Presbyterian Church. A retired employee of the
Department of Fisheries, he was a former member of the Aspen Rifle Club
and the St. Mary's Salmon Association. Surviving are two
sisters, Gussie, Smithfield; and Lillian (Mrs. Fred McGrath),
Melrose; a brother, George, Ysilanti, Mich.; and a number of
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers
and two sisters. The body is in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Kirk Memorial United Church,
Aspen, with burial in the Waternish Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
