SMITHFIELD - Gussie McKeen Demmons, 88,
of Smithfield, Guysborough County, passed away Thursday at home.
Born in Guysborough County, she was the daughter of the
late Isaac and Mary Jane (Whidden) Demmons.
She was a resident of Smithfield all of her life.
She was a member of the Glenelg Presbyterian Church and a member of
the Order of the Eastern Star, Sherbrooke.
She was also a member of the Women's Institute.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian, Bessie,
and Gertrude; six brothers, Earl, Alden, Ellis, Elsworth,
Lawrence and George. Her remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home,
Stillwater, Guysborough County, with visisting from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m.
and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service will be held Sunday
at 4 p.m. from the Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen.
Interment will be in the Waternish Cemetery.
